Exactly. He'll never get traded because he was drafted by the yotes

Their prospect cupboards are pretty dang nice.

Granted they don't have top end talent like we do with Kane, ROR, and Eichel but they have young guns.

Not sure I understand why Fasching playing 3 years is a bad thing??

He wanted to come last year but TM told him another year there would be good for him.

- JVince11

I don't think it's bad for him. Players like Eichel and Larkin are the exceptions in cawlige hawkey, not the rule.

That said, I agree with seeing him in the AHL before I make any pencilings.

Yes they do.

Strome, Duclair and Domi are pretty top end. OEL is probably the 2nd or 3rd best defensemen in the game right now. Stone is also an excellent 2-4 young defensemen.

The Yotes are in a good spot

They got lucky with Duclair and Domi performing like they are. Not that the talent wasn't there but that they were able to perform so well with the adjustment to the NHL.

I think you misunderstood. We have young talents like Eichel, Reinhart, and Risto who are in a category like Domi, Duclair, OEL, and Strome.

By top end talent I guess I meant like NHL proven players and vets like ROR and Kane in their primes.

Larkin only played 1 year of college hockey though.
- HonkFortheGoose

I'll go out on a limb and guess that there are players who have done similar and maybe even worse than Fasching and have turned into good NHLers.

Oshie's last year in college (Junior year) he was 45 P in 42 GP
Blake Wheeler was a "scrub" in college (junior year) - 35 points in 44 games

Just pointing out that a single example pulled out doesn't make another player's abilities similar.

They don't have an O'Reilly, but Boedker and Hanzal are decent pieces. I'd love to grab Boedker

I get it. You also have to take into account the team around the player. One guy can only do so much, and I don't watch enough NCAA hockey to know how each team is constructed and such. I do like to catch games once in a while when they're on ESPN though.

Just to note... the 5-8 range in most mock drafts is when ALL of the DMen start coming off the board. Nyland and Dubois after them.

Don't know if Chychrun, Sergachev, Fabbro, or Bean are at developmentally in terms of NHL ready or viewed as top pairing quality ceiling.

- JVince11

Not necessarily answering your question, but worth a look anyways.

I don't watch enough either but the fact that he is the leading scorer on the team tells me something. I know that Minnesota lost a lot of talent and is very young this year.

They are ranked #20 with a 8-2 record leading the B10 but 13-10 overall on the season.

I know that Kris Baker watches a TON of Fasching and continues to compliment on how well he is playing and could be impactful in Buffalo next year. I trust him.

Boedker is good yes... but he is a 2nd line winger on almost any team in the NHL. Hanzal is borderline 2C on almost any NHL team as well.

I'd say Vermette is just as good if not better than Hanzal.

Neither of those are bonifide top line guys like Kane or ROR are.

I'm with you...

If it is Matthews or Puljujarvi then:

Kane - ROR - Reinhart
Girgensons - Eichel - Matthews/Puljujarvi

If it is Tkachuk or Laine then:

Kane - ROR - Reinhart
Tkachuk/Laine - Eichel - Girgensons/Ennis

I don't see how this is can be a losing situation for us.

Sabres win the lottery.....

Do you make the pick or trade for a hefty ransom?

I'd only trade it if I was gonna move down a spot or 2 (tops), plus get a good young player that'll be part of our "core"

If it was Toronto, I'd prob want Marner or Nylander
Edmonton, I think I want Hall (but we'd have to throw something else in probably)
I'd want Seth Jones from Cbus, but again we'd have to add to it

Idk... Something like that anyways
I wouldn't move down lower than 3 though

Agree with this...

I wouldn't move down any farther than us not getting one of Matthews, Puljujarvi, Tkahcuk, or Laine.

I'd want young D in any deal though...

so like Reilly from Toronto
Klefbom from EDM (doubt they'd give Nurse)
Werenski from CLB (doubt they'd give up Jones after just getting him)

Laine Will go 2nd or 3rd its it's too close to call I predict he'll have the best slap shot in the NHL better then Alex the great

I like how those lines look!

Picking top3 this year would really have us set as far as the forwards go
I've got them ordered
1) Matthews
2) Puljujarvi
3) Laine

It would def take getting a "Hall or Jones, etc" for me to drop to 4th for Tkachuk
