What if Vinny doesn't retire now because he's finally being used properly?

Something seriously tells me there is more than just his word that he will retire on the line. I dont know how it would work at all, but yeah, I think the Flyers are clear unless some cap circumvention thing came up

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/13528/jonathon_blum_remains_top_prospect_for_nashville_predators/

This is a list of nashvilles top prospects from 2011. One of the best d prospect pool in the league at the time. The #1 prospect on the list is playing in the khl right now. And that list was compiled 4 years after he was drafted.

#2, #3, and their #16 prospects are all on Nashville playing big minutes.

Now is not the time to be turning our d prospects into rental free agents

- Just5

This is a good explanation of how to keep this in perspective. I know we really arent going to care too much if we get a few great ones out of it, but right now, I think it'll really suck to see some of these guys fail in the NHL. It has been a lot of fun to follow them up to this point with no real NHL distraction to keep our minds off of them

Not taking anything away from how volatile prospects can be, but I think we have better ones than that nashville list [flyers bias]

For the record, a lot of people were psyched after Ghost's sophomore year. Then again, we didn't have Sanheim and Provorov then, either.
- jmatchett383

I believe Ghost was also not drafted until after his freshman season. He slipped through the whole draft at age 18, drafted at 19. His sophomore season was the first year he was a Flyer, rights wise. Freidman was drafted at 18 out of the USHL. Ghost was just a private high school player, I think. Freidman has a lot of potential. He and Myers are two prospects who I think might surprise a lot of people.

191 pounds, actually. And he's having a great season.

http://www.bgsufalcons.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5186

He's tied 2nd on his team in scoring with 16 points in 27 games, and is +10.

http://www.bgsufalcons.co...ckey/2015-16/teamcume.htm

Trading him at age 20 would be as dumb as trading Ghost at the same age.

The freshman 15 strikes again! Haha -- swore I saw him at 175 last year!

People earlier compared Sanheim to JBo and Keith and McDonagh. Honestly, I hope he has a better career than JBo...maybe if he was the Panthers JBo, but he's had a really up and down career. Even now, he's doing quite poorly for the Blues after a couple good years.

Anywho, I think he reminds me of Josi. A bigger Josi. Watch them in their skating style, how they shoot the puck, move around the o zone, love to join the rush. They can be eerily similar. I think his potential is Josi.

I don't think he is as long shot as people state.

He is a sophomore in college. Gostisbehere wasn't this great prospect until his junior year when he started to dominate and people could see the skill.

Also he is playing at bowling green so he isn't getting the same attention as union or other big name schools.

I would rather hang on to my assets, unless it is something like youth for youth, that fits a need.

- J35Bacher

I don't think he's a long shot but I don't consider him a blue chip prospect either

Also, anyone else in Atlantic County NJ feeling a bunch of tremors?

I'm just talking playing style. Your dislike of LW Sanheim is on the record.

If he cleans up his game in the AHL, and hits his potential, he has Josi like tendencies and style of play. That's all I'm saying. Worse comes to worse, we have our top line LW. Can't lose.

If they decide to mutually terminate his contract at the end of the year instead of retirement can LA then resign him to a lesser contract?

Odd...

You are correct, he wasn't drafted until after his freshman season. During his sophomore season, he got selected for Team USA for the WJC and Union won the ECAC championship. That's when people started to notice him.

Yes. It'd be pretty unprecedented though. I can't imagine the player's union would be thrilled about him doing it, but I don't think it's against the rules.

I don't hate him at all. I seriously hope he becomes the next Erik Karlsson or whoever fans want him to be. He'll be an NHL player. He has the skill. I'm not sure how his defensive game is going to round out.
