I also have no problems with that decision either, but I would expect more years like this and more likely last for the next couple then. I just don't see Eddy holding out that long.

Flyers have to pay a price here for a few years. It's going to take time to develop the young players. They tried the free agent and trade route, time to try a different approach. Hopefully if the Flyers don't advance much in the next few years, due to a youth movement, they'll be more exciting as a team. They have to keep the obvious players that are part of the future, and move on from the rest, and start an overturn of the roster. Can't do what they did this year next year, and hope they make the playoffs again. Even if they do make the playoffs this year.

If it's a good deal, sure. Not a 5 year deal. 3 years would be ideal. He has shown zero signs of decline in his scoring numbers or his possession numbers. Flyers signed a 36 yo Streit to a 4 year deal. That's turned out as good as hoped. It's all about assessing the individual. Vinny and RJ were in decline in their underlying stuff for years.

Not saying run out to sign him, but if nothing else presents, it's a solid option. It just means 3C is taken.

Sure they can, but right now, the only free agents I'd sign, would be short term. Trades I make would be with the future in mind, not for now.

Wow Stamkos offered 8 year 68 Million (8.5M) and its public. This will show if money or winning is Stamkos main factor. No way Tampa can afford 10M, especially with their past history of big contracts, but they did win a cup. If Stamkos, or most likely his agent, wants the max well say hello to Toronto and no playoffs for 3-5 years.

Personally Tampa did it right. If Stamkos turns down the offer then trade him and bulk assets for the next 5-10 years combined with their solid roster now.

If the Flyers were 2-3 years ahead in their rebuild, it would make more sense. I don't think his game would fall off. I think he'd provide good value for the length of it. My only concern is that it might just be an unnecessary contract at this point in time.

Konecny plays mostly RW. Doesn't mean he couldn't play center -- he has the type game where he could, but in my mind he's a RW prospect. Giroux and Coots are the top two centers on the team. I am still unsure if Laughts will slot in as 3C long term. Of course Nielsen doesn't help long term either, which would be my hold up.
