Why? Like you said on a previous post, players are past their prime at 28-29. Boedker is younger than that, but he's going to cost significant money and for significant term. Stay away from big money long term free agents, and draft and develop. Use free agency a few years from now, when you're in better position to gauge needs at that time.

I see what you did there

The Flyers young prospects aren't going to jump into the lineup the next 2 years and automatically because solid NHLers (See Buffalo). Flyers still need mid-veterans to fill holes while young guns come a long. I think Bodker could be a 30/30 guy in the right situation.

As for my statement about players primes, not including ELITE players, production always slides in their late 20's. They may become more experienced and smarter, which can lead to a better chance for a cup, but offensive production always decreases in late 20's for most players. Even talents like Crosby get hit due to fatigue, injuries, etc.

Oooo. Interesting.

He is one of the most underrated 3Cs in the league. Plays top shutdown minutes while putting up great possession numbers, PK, PP, best shootout player in the NHL (or close to it). He's aged 32 though by next season. Just checked and his current deal is $2.75 AAV. Isles seems to be in no hurry to sign him either. If he's 3C, idk what happens to Laughton except shifting to wing, which I think he should be regardless.

His age is a concern. If it's a 3-4 year deal for $4-4.5 I'd do it. Maybe more $...I'd prefer to keep the years down, but he's shown no signs of decline.

I agree they're not, and the Flyers aren't likely to be a contender in the next couple of years, so why sign a player to a big contract now? Flyers should focus on drafting and developing for now, and avoid big contracts to free agents for a while. Then, 2-3 years from now, they can see what their needs are.

Year are biggest concern with him. He's a really good player though, also great at the gimmick, which wasn't a primary thought, when he was suggested as a potential target by folks I talked to on twitter &" Real Life!"

If it's a good deal, sure. Not a 5 year deal. 3 years would be ideal. He has shown zero signs of decline in his scoring numbers or his possession numbers. Flyers signed a 36 yo Streit to a 4 year deal. That's turned out as good as hoped. It's all about assessing the individual. Vinny and RJ were in decline in their underlying stuff for years.

Not saying run out to sign him, but if nothing else presents, it's a solid option. It just means 3C is taken.

The only way I'd actually have a rooting interest in this Super Bowl is if the Patriots win this game.

Because I'd actively root for them to lose. (frank) them.

Omg guys. They had to plug in their tablets. Did you hear?

I agree. Next year in camp, if he's still here, the 3rd line center spot should be Laughton's to lose in my opinion.

I also have no problems with that decision either, but I would expect more years like this and more likely last for the next couple then. I just don't see Eddy holding out that long.
