Provorov and Konecny are Flyers in October, Morin and Sanheim are Phantoms next year. I'd like to see Cousins on the Flyers though.

If konecny isn't doing all the little things that RJ brings. He won't get a sniff.

Damn I never imagined can newton being this good. What a beast

Amazing when they changed the offense to maximize what he does best than what they did with him last year.

Do they keep Streit another year or trade him at the deadline?
- Marc D

I would keep him. The rest can go at the deadline. Not a huge fan of mdz but that's because I think he reaches on his next contract

He's been a monster all year. Best player in the NFL in my opinion.

Wonder if Arizona would have interest in Matt read at the deadline. Seems like. Tippet type player

That'd be interesting. Hate to lose Read, because he's played fairly well. But another $3.65mm in cap space, plus whatever assets for a near 30 year old

Their run game concepts are awesome. Forces the D to think and Newton is an even better decoy than a runner

He does play well. He's a lot more tenacious this year than in the previous couple I think. Just think we have similar players knocking on the door. Leier, aube-kubel, etc. and the production just doesn't match his cap number. A solid 3rd liner collecting a premium paycheck

Not sure what return he'd bring........maybe mid round picks or a 3rd plus a mid tier prospect.

That's the thing. I doubt he'd bring much, and I'm not sure they can replace him in house yet.

Despite some really tough usage, Read is still 7th on the team in scoring, and 6th in goals. He's a good PK guy and a good two way forward. Right now he's the only guy in the bottom six rally playing well

But at the sametime can you justify keeping him even if the that's the return?

Sure.

The biggest issue for this team is either that they don't have a second line, or that they have two 4th lines. Read and Raffl could be the foundation to a good 3rd line next year.

What if Konecny can step in immediately next year and have a great rookie season? You could end up with a 3rd line of Konecny centering Raffl & Read.

Bruins, Capitals, Islanders (maybe), Canadiens, Predators, Rangers, Capitals, Ducks

That could be a slog of an upcoming schedule. Right now 7 points from playoffs, 6 points from Laine. This will be interesting. Take solace in that we win regardless.

Fair point.

If Arizona was interested maybe a Christian Fischer, Christian Thomas, or Maxim Letunov might be the best they could hope for in a player return for Read.

Should these even a possibility.

I'm just not sure if Arizona is interested. I'd rather get picks.

I think a team like Calgary may have more interest, but they'd need to clear cap. Also not sure they'd be keen to deal picks

I have no idea who would be interested & I agree unless blown away with a prospect I'd rather have the picks as well.

They also have two years left on his contract, and the unstable Canadian dollar might scare some teams off for a rather cap expensive middle six winger and the salary remaining might deter teams that are on a sub-cap budget.

I do think I'd shift the lines a bit, regardless of a trade or any other move. Assuming Couturier can return:

93-28-17
21-14-10
12-19-24
76-78-25

If Weal falters/sucks they can slide Umberger back in and move Raffl to center.

Personally, if all they can get for Read is a third, I'd just hold onto him. A healthy Read can still be an x-factor on this team, provided he has competent linemates.
