Glad he is accepting going down to the AHL for you guys . With some more seasoning that kid is going to be a stud.
- Maximum Signal

he seems to be bought into Roys game plan, thats one thing I will say about him, hes a players coach and seems to have his team buying with he is selling.

more AHL time won't hurt him, will be better than him playing 3rd pairing minutes. Need him to reach full potential and not just settle for being healthy body. Pre AHL call up I think he has a CF% 5v5 around 44% in his post AHL call up, in 5 games he was hover around 56%. The guy is getting it,

with the way the Avs are playing, they can afford to let him develop in the AHL, don't need him yet to push for the playoffs (can't believe my boys are actually a real threat to make the playoffs this year)

this team has no pulse in the 3rd

it has to be conditioning or coaching

both games, kill a 4 minute double minor in the 3rd, and collapse after the penalty kill

wtf

Mark Pysyk played 11 minutes. Can someone explain to me what the plan is with him? Is he really just a #6 defensemen?

It's really tough to have your few best guys out there for 4 minutes at the end of a game with virtually no rest. And then to try and come back on top of it. I'd be interested to see the shift chart for the last 2 games, to see who played a lot at the end of the game.

I know a lot of people are not going to like but trade the players for draft picks at the deadline ( mainly for the people that say we have enough picks) we need to restock the prospect pool immediately

He might be better than the 20% who were very loud how much they hated that trade.
- Mentalorgasm5

I didn't hate that we traded for Lehner
I don't think too many did
It was that we gave up a 1st for him
That was too much

I still have hope he can end up being a good goalie though
He's been pretty good these last 2 games

Besides McGinn, idk who actually gets us a decent pick?
Maybe...
Weber &/or Johnson could get us a 3rd? If we're lucky?

So many of our recent draft picks are on the team already, and hopefully will be for quite a while
So even though we don't have a lot coming up, if these guys work out then we won't have too many holes to fill either

Is Larkin the guy Murray was trying to trade up for?
I don't remember ever hearing who it was

I liked him as a prospect that draft, but he hasn't progressed as quickly as some would've thought.
Looks like he's gonna need a few more years of development before he cracks the NHL

Frustrating watching last night's game. Looked like last year's team. Understand injuries play a part, but no sustained attack or quality chances is a problem. Moulson is invisible and completely out of place, he looks lost. His salary and lack of production makes him difficult to move or low return. Hopeful that post all-star game, will bring a full roster and better results. 20 point improvement should not be used as measuring stick, since last year was all about having the #1/#2 draft pick.

You guys know me, and I'm about as positive a guy as there is in the League. I believe our team is as good as there is in the League. I believe our players are as good as there is in the League.

I'm sitting back waiting for us to understand the team that we said we were gonna be. What in the hell are we waiting on? Do we understand there's a price to pay?

Can we have fun? You're damn right! I demand we have fun!! But there's a difference between fun and being a jackass. Where are our priorities? We could be the world Champions but not if we're not willing to pay the price!!

Now, let's go get a goddamn snack!

Big change from the beginning of the season, that's for sure. Where's that team that was pretty dominating in possession and shots?
- stashu

This league is chock full of teams every year that play out of character for the first month of the season, good and bad. Buffalo is a team nowhere near the first nor last on that long list, nothing more.

I get it - you wanted to be able to call up the wizardry of Joel Armia, right friend?

EDIT: and if you ask me, the goal is to acquire the best NHL roster in the League, not the best prospect pool. They give the cup to the guys playing in the national league, not the kids in the A and juniors.

The problem here is this: this Sabres team had major gaping holes coming into the season. We all knew that. Tim Murray gave up a lot of assets, very good ones (none great) in order to address one of them: goal scoring. The approach is fine, in theory. The problem is that the assets acquired haven't plugged that hole nearly enough for what was given up.

???? So if no trades were made and we had grigs, joel, myers , brandon, staff, zads, we would be scoring more? Here in lies the problem... the sabres were a shat team due to years of mediocrity. That cant be fixed overnight. The sabres had quanity and needed quality. Trades were made. A vast majority of prospects dont pan out. Its weird alot of comments from other fans say you guys are on your way, give it time etc...fans from teams that have gone through rebuilds...alot of you guys sound like leafs fans..its a game and entertainment something for 3 hrs to enjoy and get your mind of the normal stresses of life.

I think in year 1 of the REBUILD portion of this process, in general the Sabres are about where I expected them to be ... Looking better on the ice with definite gaps that needed to be understood. In addition, some of the potential gap fillers haven't arrived yet...so we may need to live with them for a bit longer.

I am interested to see what GMTM does during:
Trade Deadline
Draft
Free Agency

It is not inconceivable for Murray to bundle Something like McGinn +2nd to grab a 1st from a Playoff team.

I think FA is where he finds 1 or 2 supporting parts to push this along while we wait to see what some of the Prospects bring us.

No, the Sabres wouldn't be scoring more, but they would have those assets to use to acquire better ones. It's not that they used the assets that's the issue. It's what he brought the assets in to do. O'Reilly and McGinn (who was essentially a throw in) have been great and good respectively. Everybody else hasn't made this team better. Nobody expects this to be fixed overnight. However, it's not unreasonable to expect the parts brought in to address a need start to look like they are filling the need. The assets Murray brought in (with the exception of Lehner) were all brought in to improve the offense. There is very little improvement in the offense right now. I expected more, and I would hope Tim Murray did too. You're right. This team has been a shat team for three years. And it's that very reason that the poor product that's on the ice now masks as acceptable. To me, that's sad.

We're not in year 1. We're in year 3 or 4. The rebuild started in 2013-2014. People want to liken the Sabres to the Blackhawks or even the Penguins in their "tank mode". When they were at this stage, even though they weren't playoff teams yet, the players they brought in were doing what they were brought in to do, namely score goals and put up points. The Sabres aren't doing that, not even in proportion to the amount of goals scored now versus 2006, 2007, and 2008.

I also believe that we need to really evaluate if Bylsma is indeed the right guy long term.
I wasn't jumping up and down when he was signed here, but am willing to let it play out into 3 full seasons. By the 3rd we should have enough talent and his system to have been in place long enough to judge his effectiveness.

Personally, I do think he is a good coach during this rebuild to implement and teach structure and defensive responsibilities. Those are very important for a young team to learn and make second nature.
That said, he needs to convince me that he is the right coach when we have the right horses...can he be enough of a motivator, tactition, strategist to get this team over the hump...I think the jury is out on that one.
