Re: The top two lines vs the bottom two lines.

How about a compromise position... Pitt's top guys outplayed our top guys on this particular evening, but our bottom guys aren't good enough to step up and compensate when that happens. Fair?

It's just going to take time. It's nice to think of the Flyers competing for a wild card spot, but the points in the standings are deceiving. Win or lose, there's very little movement in the team positioning when you are outside looking in. In general, unless some blockbuster trade happens or some other big factor influences events, where you are in the standings at Thanksgiving is more or less where you will be in April. Of course there are exceptions (Montreal falling off a cliff for example), but if you look at the Flyers pop-gun offense, playing MDZ and Gudas as a top pairing, and the pitiful special teams, this is not a playoff team and hasn't been all season.

me too, considering we are all going to be stuck inside. I just don't see it happening.

EDIT: I guess not all of us. those that abandoned Philadelphia for places like New Mexico can do whatever they want, i guess

Very fair. I think the bottom 6 of Pittsburgh is where they can be taken advantage of. The Flyers don't have the players to do it, minus Matt Read.

Gagner didn't look too bad last night.

Get a guy like Raffl to play with him and Read and you have the making of a half way decent 3rd line. Then Bellemare with Laughton as a decent 4th line.

I wouldn't have minded Hexy picking up Sekac who I think is going to be a pretty good possession LW with speed, to play the 2nd line LW and have Raffl stabilize the disaster of the "third line" they have going now.

White should not be killing penalties.

As long as both teams and refs are there, it will be played. Remember the game in NJ when the trains weren't even running and the turnpike was closed but they played (I had tix for that in the Ice Lounge, which we had to eat). They had about 3000 people there (I think from PATH).

I'd expect Islanders will treat like road game and have all the guys in a hotel tonight. And Flyers will be there tonight. So...

Nice venue. Good wings and beer across the street at the Keswick Tavern. My buddy barbacks there on Saturdays. Let's turn it into a poop show

Yeah, Wilsonecho didn't stop by either. Some excuse like his kid peed on him or something.

that's a good one. I don't have any kids but I'm going to start telling people I peed on myself when I need to get out of situations
