Hope everyone stays warm with the snow coming!

Now, couple of thoughts I had watching the game.

Malkin had an absolute field day. I haven't seen him play like that against us in a very, very, long time. (Missed you Couts).

I know Laughton did terrible on face offs, but I thought he looked good and created some nice chances. His skating and dish to RJ was very nice. Damn shame that bum couldn't score from point blank.

I'm tired of Ryan White. I'm not sure what's going on with him, but he has been a penalty machine lately. I wanted him benched after MTL game when he had two penalties towards end of game that almost cost us. Then he follows that's with Red Wings hit. And he was terrible last night. Also got a penalty that cost us.

I wish Hakstol would dump Vandevelde, college sweet hearts are tough (I know, my parents were) but it's time to move on and learn there are other fish in the sea (or on the ice?)

Jake needs to shoot it more like he did with his PP goal. I love his passing and playmaking abilities, but that shot is money and he can snipe that often, but he actually has to take the shot (something he hesitates to do at times)

It's time to give Weal a look. Kinda head scratching that Gagner played over him. Weal's been practicing with our team for couple of weeks. I just don't know why we'd prefer Gagner over someone who has been working with our players. Not like Gagner is good defensively either. Not sure about Weal's defensive capabilities bc haven't seen him yet. But I wonder if Hakstol isn't a fan of him.

We desperately missed Couts last night, and similar to when he was out with his concussion, we were terrible on the PK

I don't get the Weal infatuation. I'm fine with giving him a shot, but why is it a head scratcher that Gagner played over him? Gagner has been an established NHL player, while Weal has never been. Gagner has practiced a lot more with the team this season, than Weal has. I don't know if Weal is better than Gagner or not. Trust me, I'm not a Gagner fan at all.

Last night, If I was Hakstol, I would've thought about moving Read up to LW on the 2nd line, and moving Raffl to center, with Schenn on the right side. shorten the bench and mix and match the bottom 2 lines.

Good example is the Toronto game. They choked off the boards and challenged at the points with their defenseman, taking away the Flyers breakout. The middle of the ice was the open space.

I think it's because Gagner has shown that he doesn't have much to offer, hence he was sent down the AHL. So why not give Weal an opportunity to show what he has. Maybe Weal isn't any better than Ganger. At least we would then know.

As I stated, I'm fine with giving Weal a shot. It's not a head scratcher, Gagner has been in the NHL for a number of seasons. Hakstol has watched Weal in practice, we have not.

me too, considering we are all going to be stuck inside. I just don't see it happening.

EDIT: I guess not all of us. those that abandoned Philadelphia for places like New Mexico can do whatever they want, i guess

Well obviously Hakstol would know more than the average fan. You were wondering what the big weal is about Weal. I think most fans are tired of seeing bad players (Umberger, Gagner, and previously Vinny) playing, so why not try something else, maybe just for a game or so.

Especially since Weal is a new shiny toy to the Flyers fanbase.

I brought this up last night. I get trying something new, but I don't care if it's Weal or another prospect on the Phantoms or hell, even Colin McDonald.
