When we give away draft picks and assets like candy canes, I LOVE to look at it that way.
General question to the board... what would you consider a pick in each round worth, money wise? 3-5 mil for a 1st, 1-2 for a 2nd? Or can we not put a price on them that simply? - Guile
I'd say it's nearly impossible to quantify because it usually takes a least a couple years until they develop and the salary cap is fluid but I think you have a fair rough estimate.
On another note, Malkin was not all that effective this game (0 pts, 1 SOG, 2 PIM, 3 GVA) and Couturier didn't play so what does that mean??? |

Scuderi isn't an NHL player so almost any call up is better than him.
Daley is benefitting enormously from Sullivan's system. The Pens don't even look like the same team they were under Johnston and the transformation has been immediate. Much faster puck movement. They can actually come from behind and win some games. - jfkst1
I didn't watch Daley with the Hawks, I guess the coach didn't like him. Still, with such high demand for Dmen, you'd think they could have traded him for something better. Even a low draft pick would have been better.
Don't want to beat a dead horse, but I still say Daley has gone a long way to helping this team claw back in the hunt. No way that happens with Scuderi on the roster. |

I remember seeing some advanced stat on "what players are worth" via point production, corso, +-, and all that junk. Could then pull loads of trades that were jsut players for picks/prospects, and... eh, someone on Twitter is likely to make a big ass fancy graph of how much a pick is worth in trades for points/cap wise.

If Chicago buys out Scuds, your saying the Pens are off the hook for some/all the retained salary from the trade? - Weisenheimer
Pretty sure we take 100% of what we are already paying - the total starts with our % of the trade & what's left over the Hawks pay. Same getting sent to the AHL. Hawks get ALL the benefit. (I could be wrong about the buyout though) |

Scuderi was costing us games. Daley is actually contributing to wins for an extra mil. That's the way I choose to look at it.
Now for Cole.... Would love to send his incompetent ass out of town for a pick. - madmike71
I think they should sit him for a few games. Let him reset himself then only play him bottom pair minutes. They keep playing guys above their pay rates for too long. They don't have to, they have the numbers to spread the love, although I get keeping the team together to gel (in fact I'm all for that! :thumbsup , but when a player is struggling, for (frank)s sake sit him & give him a breather instead of putting more pressure on the poor bastard!! |

Trevor Daley is amazing. We got him for Rob Scuderi??
Hagelin is a perfect 3rd wheel to the 2nd line. We got him for David Perron??
Oh wait...sorry, I meant to say fire Rutherford. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Daley is a solid trade with $ risk - currently blowing the risk out of the water! Very solid job by JR!
Shags cost us 2 players & will cost us 4m for the next 3.5 years. Going by what people said today if Perron (who has a goal & an assist in 2 Ducks games), missed what Shags missed you would be screaming blue murder! I'd hold off on the Shags love until he starts producing like a $4m player. There is a real chance he becomes a $4m anchor everyone will be hating. I hope Shags is our man & time will tell. |

No I didn't. I've been one of the bigger defender of Phil and the trade that got him to Pitt on here. Sometimes things just happen |

Giroux' goal had eyes and Schenn's goal was a product of Letang getting upset that he got tripped by Simmons. Sometimes you just need to play thru missed calls. Voracek had plenty of time and placed his shot perfectly. I can't believe that Philly's PP is that good.
As far as Rob Scuderi, Chicago is doing exactly what Mike Johnston should have done, use him as a replacement and understudy for Clendening and Pouliott. The good news and this isn't the only good news from that situation is that both are history, good bye and good luck I say. |

If you want a better laugh, Scuderi's mins were at forward playing the wing. Garbutt had just been traded to ANA and Sekac hadn't arrived. Panik overslept and was scratched. Perfect storm of suck. - Davewn
LOL what? That is hysterical. |

I see some comments about Haglins finishing ability. I dont think he needs to be much of a finisher with Kessel and Malkin on his line. His speed and forecheck will make space. His passing looks above par too...at least up to par anyway. |

Did you watch the game, or are you just looking at the box score?
I though Malkin was very good, controlling the puck and spending a ton of time with Hags and Phil in the opponent's zone. With 62 and 81 getting a lot of shots and chances because of how active he was. Noticeably better and less frustrated than when Couturier plays, and much more dangerous.
He even walked away from the Gudas hit with no emotional outburst or retaliation, and moments later the Pens were back on the PP. |

unless Kunitz is out for a while...in which case, no doubt in my mind JR will go balls to the wall for Drouin. - YouMeAndDupuis9
Drouin would be the absolute worst fit for Crosby's line. Crosby needs guys who will go retrieve the puck and who will go to the dirty areas. Drouin refuses to play because he's afraid he might get a hangnail and ruin his chances of being a hand model someday.
I'd rather bring back Brian Gibbons or Miroslav Satan.

I'm not worried about him either. There's more than one way to skin a cat, and there's more than one way to be effective with Geno and Phil. And I haven't seen Hagelin muff a stand-still open net the way Perron did every other game. |

Cole needs to take a few games off, put Pouliot in. If and when Pouliot plays much better than Cole, I would like to deal Cole for a depth LW or draft picks. |

Or have a breakaway and shoot the puck 2 feet high right over the net. |

Exactly. Just when the top two lines are starting to look lethal Kunitz goes down. Hopefully not for long. If it is for long I'd slide Bennett right into his spot. |

So Perrons hits & hustle aren't going to be missed, & a $4m winger doesn't have to score??
I'm not defending Perron but he had positives that seemed to get ignored because he couldn't score? But now scoring isn't important? |

So if Kuni is down for awhile, I hope Cullen doesn't get that spot. Bennett will be back soon, but I'd like to see Rust for a game or two. Kid is beating everyone to the puck and playing tough on the boards. |
