Yzerman pissed st. Louis off bcz he was a major influence on canadas olympic selection and they didnt ask martin to play for team canada. St. Louis was leading the league in goals at that point in the season. Yzerman wanted the best olympic team. To me it just sounds like a gm not putting up with these whinny athletes.

I'm in Nebraska and for some (frank)in reason all of the Avs games are blackout on Gamecenter for me... missed lastnights game.
- Sabre_Tooth

It's most likely because the Avs games are broadcasted on "basic" cable, so they are blacked out. I'm in Sioux Falls, and the Wild are blacked out for me.

If girgenson is not a top 6 foward he has more value to us as a trade.

Who's to say that a team interested in Drouin wouldn't feel the same way? You can't assume that if he gets hurt he absolutely CANNOT get traded. Nobody knows that.

Moral of the story:

He needs to shut his mouth, put his skates on (no matter what team it's for) and do his god damn job. Period.

- HonkFortheGoose

Unfortunately, Eric Lindros made this tactic an acceptable practice. I would like to see the G.M. s band together and say none of us are willing to trade for him, it would take the power back from the bratty player. G.M.s have banned together before, Kaleta being waived by us was an example of that. Everybody hated the guy for his play, but I refuse to believe that there were no G.M.s whom didn't want to pick him up at the time. Still, they came together in not wanting to look like hypocrites and said we will not have a player on our team who plays this reckless.

I don't like it because I buy the "sports package" from my cable provider and I don't get Altitude. Oh well, its not like I watch too many Avs games anyway.

P.S. Since we are both midwesterners, what made you a sabres fan?

That's not necessarily true. What do you think you're going to get for him in a trade? He's played very well as a shut down 3rd line center this year. Guys like that, while very valuable on the ice, don't really garner great returns in a trade.

Hasek. I loved watching him doing his thing. Apart from him, nothing in particular. Have always hated Vanek, ever since he played in Sioux Falls. BTW, he was just as lazy here as he was for the Gophers, Sabres, and as he is now. I remember being pissed when they drafted him. He would dog it back to the red line, then just float for a break away pass. Drove me nuts watching him play for the Stampede.

What about you?

Why? How does this hurt any of us? He didn't do this for 3 years and is only doing it now because he thinks it's best for his career. If I was in his situation I might do the same thing. If this was the only incident of this I'd think it's the player. But this is the 3rd big issue that team has had since Yzerman took over. There's a common denominator here.

So what you're saying is you'd be ok right now with just trading Girgensons for a 1st round pick?

So, maybe you guys can help me here

I only saw the highlights thanks to stupid DVR not recording the game

I did not like what i saw from Lehner on both goals.

Flailing like a fish out of water on the first....seriously?!

The second, yes he was blocked by Pysk and puck was tipped, but he appeared to be sliding along behind Pysk, INSTEAD of to the left, where the net was open, his view unobstructed and the deflection would've hit him in the numbers.

So, did he also have some great saves that I would've missed?.....otherwise I want Johnson in net.

- nikel

I don't agree with you on the second goal analysis. Lehner was playing the shot properly. He was tracking the shot that was taken, which was going to his right before it was deflected once by Kane (I think) and then again by Pysyk. Even after the first deflection, he was still in position to stop the puck. It was only the second deflection off Pysyk's glove, which was less than a foot in front of Lehner, that caused the puck to get by Lehner.

Deflections are rarely on the goalie. In this case, we can't expect Lehner to move to his left--away from the direction of the shot that was taken--in anticipation of deflections that haven't happened yet. His job is to play the shot that was taken. Once deflected, all the goalie can do is hope it hits him or misses the net.

I'm not about to go rummaging through the advanced stats, but when Girgensons went down the first time, Bylsma said that losing him made it hard for O'Reilly because he did have to use him in that role.

Obviously things have moved around a bit even since then, but Girgensons has had to deal with shutting down the top line of the opposition plenty this season.

None. I want nothing to do with trading Girgensons.
