Who's to say that a team interested in Drouin wouldn't feel the same way? You can't assume that if he gets hurt he absolutely CANNOT get traded. Nobody knows that.

Moral of the story:

He needs to shut his mouth, put his skates on (no matter what team it's for) and do his god damn job. Period.

- HonkFortheGoose

I didn't say he couldn't get traded, just that I don't really see any teams out there that are in the same scenario that Buffalo was in last season. I mean, the 2 top contenders, AZ and TO, are both playing well enough that they won't likely get the #30 ranking.

What about the St. Louis (to NYR), did he not mess that up too? It was out in the media that St. Louis only wanted to play for NYR, how is that helping?
- Lilroot9

Well they did get a pretty decent player (at the time) in Callahan, a first, and a second for an aging vet who played essentially one more season after the trade... I would chalk that up as a win for the Bolts. Sorry to poo on your point.

Drouin has played three home games in Syracuse...So obviously he hasn't seen him play many games. His opinion means very little
- MCGUIZZY

You need to check your facts before being Sarcastic. Has played 7 games in the last 14 days. Perhaps he watches away game on TV . Plus he is a Tampa Bay fan . So how many Tampa Bay games with Drouin has he seen?

The poster that offered this opinion has obviously watched many Syracuse games . I value his opinion . You can't have every shiny new toy there is . Some toys are billed way higher than their actual value and are best left on the shelf. Price is too high as well . At some point it will be reduced for clearance.

He's played like 9 career Syracuse games.....

Your not "pooing" on my point, I thought we were talking about the handling of players? Why did he want to leave (St. Louis) when his whole career was there and the team made it almost as far as NYR that year.

How many Drouin games have you watched? Can't judge a player just from a stat sheet.

If I remember correctly, he wanted one or two more runs at a cup. The Lightning were trying to get younger, which they did, and they gave him a Ray Bourque like chance at another cup by sending him to one of the top 4 teams in the league. If we're talking how Yzerman handled that situation, I would say that he came out on top. That was my point.

I have watched him enough to know he would be the 2nd most talented player on this team hands down.

People that are bashing a 20 year old for listening to his agent are being kind of ridiculous

Didn't he cry like a baby for not being invited to the Olympic squad that Yzerman was a big part of putting together?

I feel that he (Yzerman) did not handle this correctly on the player side, but yes I was amazed at what he pulled for him. Not that I would have wanted Callahan, nor would I have given him a new contract at that amount, but I think he did alright trading that player.

I mean, it seems most players want out of TB (see the Stamkos NOT signing as a small sign pointing that way too), so as much as I like Yzerman, there must be something there that others do not know (bedside manner? haha).

I am trying to remember what the media knew before he was traded (compared to what we know now). I feel he did not handle it correctly (as far as the player is concerned), but I may be wrong.

I still want him on the Sabres, just dont want to overpay. I mean, if Drouin goes to a second place and does this again, no one would want him, so he needs to cool his jets, but none of us know what he was told in closed door meetings, so him being upset may be from what he was told and then they did the opposite. Only a few people really know.

I have a general question totally off topic - I am getting rid of cable (because its so franking expensive!) and the only qualm that I have in getting rid of it is missing out on Sabres games. What would be the best way to see games with no cable? I will be streaming shows with a Roku & PS4 and a digital antenna if that helps. Thanks!!
- BuffaloKyle

I use Roku with Center Ice or Gamecenter, whatever it's called. Quality is pretty good. Need to use a service to avoid the blackouts though.

If anyone actually looked at the replay of that "flip pass" by O'Reilly..... it was a fluke. It deflected off the Col defender's stick and flipped over the net.

Complete fluke. Stop idolizing ROR for it.

I hear what you are a saying, and to a certain point I agree. These are people, and they have a say/feeling (Jordan Leopold to Minnesota comes to mind), but where I look at it is this: GM's are paid to make the product on the ice better for the organization as a whole, which is much bigger than one person, even if he is a vet that's been there for a long time. Ego's definitely come into play, but for me it's hard to say that Yzerman did anything "wrong" when he made his team better in the long run (excluding that ridiculous contract). Just my thoughts on it.

His agent should be fired.
