LOl He will still be in college next year.
- thundachunk

not a chance he stays in college next year. If he stays he only plays a max of 35 games and that can only hurt his development at this point. He needs to play in the AHL and get up to 55+ games played

I think teams understand the situation (ie avoiding potential injury for his new team) and likely dont think that much less about him. But I am sure there are others that will see it that same way. Tough act to balance
- WhiteLie

What teams understand is there is a young kid who hasn't proven he deserves any nhl ice time and constantly balks at the idea of improving his game and earning his opportunity in the minors...like almost every other player that's ever come into the league. This kid is obviously a self-intitled spoiled lil female dog. Yzerman will not be pushed. I'd almost be the shelves the kid for the rest of the year and let's him rot. This kid is killing his career before it has even started.

Some guys go to college for the actual education, otherwise why not just play junior.

Yeah... Like why on earth would he want to finish his education and earn his diploma. You know ...cause he chose to go the university route for just that reason.

The guy fast tracked his high school education... pretty sure he can do the same with his Uni degree. There's such thing as summer classes. Just saying.

Players don;t choose college just for the education.

Their are plenty of reasons to choose college over juniors in terms of development.

Yeah I'm out. He didn't show he is done. #@EricLindros
- thundachunk

Out,
I mean imagine having to take on a young Eric Lindros at less then real value because he's a diva.
No way is it worth a lower valued prospect to ever pick up a player who isn't happy with his situation.
It has never been a good investment to pick up a young disenfranchised prospect like Drouin because he is unhappy, never works out for the team picking him up.
I mean what if he comes here ala Lindros or Seguin and lights it up. We'd have way to many overvalued Left wingers like Baer, Shink, Virt, Vey, etc... that we'd have to move.

I wouldn't. He's not worth 10 mil. And he would be a waste considering where we are in the rebuild.

to play against better competition.... more of a mans game in College.

Jrs you could be playing against 16-17 and 18 year olds.... doesn't help you transition to the pro game as well.

Better? No that's wrong...all the scouts say all the time it's hard to judge college kids because the level of play is below that of jr hockey and they play a much smaller sample size of games.

Can't we just trade Demko for two goalies who are bigger faster and will win more games? Just busting your gonads Bull.

The reason that he could choose to continue his degree is to continue his degree, he could be a motivated student who values his education.

* Larger spectrum of ages between players (about 6 or 7 years), and the fact that there are many physically mature 20-something-year-old players. Players think this as an important developmental benefit.
* Better strength and conditioning coaches and better off-ice facilities
* Around 35% of players come from the NCAA
* Do you think Toews and Kessel would have gone the NCAA route if it hurt their development?
* if you are 20 and not going anywhere in the CHL you are essentially screwed, compared to: you can keep on going in the NCAA right past 20 and right up 23.

He may come out early...I'm just saying , don't bank on it. It's a different world and nucks brass won't be the ones driving the bus. Kids go this route for the free degree to set themselves up for life in case the pro game doesn't pan out. And why would I want to trade demko? He's exactly what I'm preaching about. A younger better cheaper player with tremendous potential. Not an old busted worthless under performing overpaid vet ?

1 more year of split time and then what?
Someone posted that Demko is Nhl ready.

in 2 years, could you go with Marky/Demko?

or move Marky (after Miller's contract is up) and hire a vet to mentor Demko?

- dbot

In 2 years thats what I would plan for.
