He has 5 points in 46 games............hell fit perfectly with us.
- pker2theend

He is 6'5" 220lb RHD that plays shutdown and is known to play heavy. Not afraid to drop gloves and is very sound defensively....you know the position that defense is actually supposed to play. not the HNL version of Norris D.

Lol no you're not because Florida isn't making that deal.
- Bullfrog77

Florida is in a win now state of mind. Lou is the oldest goalie in NHL and playing out of his mind. Their leading scorer was drafted before most of their players were born. They don't have another shot. Getting Hammer in the back end will create the stability they need. Getting a top 6 forward in Drouin that is compared to Patty Kane will be a dream to Talon. DT was able to rein in PK what makes you think he wont be able ot do the same with JD? Cassels is a long term project. Deal would break down as Droiun for Gudbranson and 2nd. Hammer and Cassels for Crouse.

I would argue that Gudbranson is better than Hamhuis, and I really like Dan. I just dont see how the end result puts Florida in a better position today and in the future

For one gudbrandson is one of their best defenseman and is better then hamhuis at this point in his career. Two if they are in a win now mode, why would they want to have hammer and Drouin? Hammer hadn't played in months and is going to be a step behind the league for the rest of the year. And Drouin is so unproven he can't stay on tampas roster. So again why would talon give up arguably his most important defenseman and one hell of a forward prospect for a bag full of unproven junk and ufa cast offs ? Not going to happen !

We have enough "defensive defensemen"

Outside of Willie and Campbell, their most experienced D is Gudbrason and he is 23. They need veteran leadership.

For every Edler we need a Tanev. The point is that every line needs someone that is defensively responsible. The reason why Hammer and KB worked really well. The reason why Edler and Tanev works. If you want offensive D then there is one that rangers are giving away for free. Yandle.

Veteran leadership? They have Willie, Campbell, Jagr, Luongo, and even Jokienen. Gudbransons in his 5th season too, not a rookie and more than capable of taking a leadership role in Florida

Why am I even arguing this? Like I said I was playing armchair GM and made a trade suggestion. Was all a pipedream. Move on. I have to say, it is better then Trading Edler and then signing 2 scrubs to play his position at half the cost.

on a side note, bringing up Zaleski is just (frank)ing weird.

Now I know some ppl are hoping this spells the end of Prust, but if anything I'd see it more as another team scouting M.Z and wanting to see how he performs in the Bigs...

Who knows...

Zalewski didn't have a contract with Van, so that theory doesn't make sense to me, because he couldn't of actually been traded. Any team could of signed him if they wished.

I think it has more to do with either Suttor or Henrik or Both being out longer than expected.

The tone on the board matches the dreary day after getting a soaker in a pot hole that looked like a shallow puddle.

I'm hoping to see Daniel play the setup man to McCann.

Will Zalewski's speed make any impact on the 4th line?

Can Hutton continue his strong play?

No it's not....you're fantasy would never happen. Edler could easily be moved and replaced by two more cost efficient players and have a better team defence

It would be good to see McCann get one tonight.

Jury is out on Zalewski and I think Hutton gets a bit better week after week.

That sounds easier said than done. Part of the challenge is actually finding a trading partner to make those moves.

It's a good thing your not GM then, our defense would be worse than it currently is.

Earlier in the season, I don't think they would have given Zalewski a look. I am glad they are getting him into the lineup while still in the playoff hunt.

Juggling the needs for short and long term success.

Have to try a different look to the lineup if we are getting hemmed in, Prust is slow, Cracknell isn't as bad but still isn't fast. Youth is being served.

Correct. Every line needs a defensive stay at homer.
