The general rule of thumb is that, if Eklund is reporting it, it has little to no chance of happening.
- Marwood

I know. It really means Canucks are about to sign Vrbata long term. But do wonder what different teams would offer.

Re the Daniel interview.

I read it as favouring the east coast as well due to travel.

Maybe he will follow the Naslund pathway.
Trade to NYR after contract is up.
Reunite with AV.

Then it doesn't matter as the twins will be completely redundant by the time their contracts are up. Their contracts expire at the end of the 2018 season right?

I'm ok with that.

also if you can get a 2nd for hamhuis but if you retain 50% for the remainder of the season and that gets you a first why wouldnt you if you are the owner its an investment in turning the team around which will in turn get more people buying tickets

Call me delusional, but as far as the Sedins go, I have no issue if they retire as Canucks and maybe get another short extension, taking less money and are the 2nd line. Don't think the timing is quite right though.

I keep thinking of all the flack around Lebron going to Miami and believe there is a certain touch of nobility in wanting to play only for the Canucks, win as a Canuck and retire a Canuck. Numbers in the rafters.

But hey, if they want to go to another team and a chance to win the cup, JB has to get the best possible return.

Apparently it worked as they wont have a road trip longer than 5 games, but I don't know which is worse for players, making multiple trips of 5 games, or just trying to get the entire east schedule done in 2-3 trips
- WhiteLie

Personally I think it would be worse with more multiple 5 game trips as opposed to fewer 7 game ones so hopefully Trev knows what he's asking for. The league scheduler will find a way to screw us no matter what.

What do you guys think about this deal.

Miller, Prust, Burrows and Vrbata to Montreal for Eller + 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th and 50 lbs of smoked meat.

Is there really any evidence for all this nickle and diming attributed to the Aquilinis. I mean does he seriously demand two playoff games a year at the expense of a declining team that is losing fans? He spends to the cap and had no issue eating Tort's salary. When Gillis was here, he spent on sleep doctors and other things. I'm sure he's a greedy SOB, but you don't become a billionaire, by allowing your product to lose overall value. But I guess as long as he gets two games of playoff revenue, everything is ok.

I agree. It would be good to have a player or in this case two, who are stars and play their entire careers here.

I'd like to see everyone go at the TDL except for players on ELCs or under 25 yrs of age. Trade for as many picks in this coming draft as possible and see if we can package those picks together for as many 1st rounders and then take our chances in the lottery this summer and see who we can draft.

Sign a bunch of guys in the off season to fill out the roster all to 1 year deals, rinse and repeat until the whole team is under 27 yrs old.

Then finally, all the idiots crying about how old the team is will shut their yaps...

Speaking about the Sedins and respect. What ever happened to Neil MacRae?

Totally ironic that after all his disrespect for the Sedins, they appear to have lasted far longer than he did.

I suspect that the disrespectful attitude and behaviours towards the Sedins all started with him.

The re-thingy is on! Change is here.

How much of what we hear is marketing vs. the real game plan?

They just sent Higgins to the AHL.

Prust won't be here for long.

we are a cap team because of some new contracts and old ones with ntc's, and because we are marketed as a playoff team that spends to the cap to ice the best product possible.

I think there was a change in thinking after Sutter went on ltir. We are far from assured a playoff spot and JB has stood pat, not making a desperate move to acquire a less than ideal centreman. development and going with youth has taken priority over making the playoffs.

Haven't heard this mentioned in quite a while, however I have read some posters are retired and working out of boredom and naked grape needs.

I think much of the blabber coming from Linden, etc is to not admit that they have given up on this particular version of the team. They will not admit it publicly. Hopefully this will soon be demonstrated in the right trades.

I am not sure if they have given up on the playoffs. we are still a fringe playoff team.

I want to see all the ufa's moved for picks but am expecting at least 2 or 3 to walk or be here at the end of the regular season.

playoff experience for the youth here may be seen as just as valuable as trading a pending ufa for a pick.

which reminds me, I need more popcorn.

Then hope management realizes that moving Vrbata, Prust and Hamhuis won't negatively impact their hopes for the playoffs.

I would like to see Bo's follow up performance in the playoffs this year. He's making major strides and if the Canuck's have all centers healthy it could be a tough match up for a few teams

Its always a goal so yeah.

I think Vrbata is gone regardless and so is Prust. They will be in Montreal soon.

Rumour has it an under achieving RW in Habland for those 2 and a 5th.

my first impression was they'd stay here and win with our developed youth.

but, you may be onto something.

Nope - he's not on to anything- Sedin meant it literally - travel sucks and their muscles are sore. He's bang on.

DSP ? I still can't see MTL being able to fit 7.5 million or whatever it is pro-rated without moving some salary as well.

Totally off topic but how does Bruce Budreau still have a job? He and McLean have a pretty dam good line up on paper and are still not in a playoff position.
