And I hate this excuse. The little guy can't even go to Vegas and buy a cocktail. Yes he's legally an adult, mostly, and should be treated like one. But if you expect anyone at that age to have spot on decision making then you're setting yourself up for disappointment.
- CubanBuffet

No, but most high-end prospects are groomed years in advance to be ready for the NHL including getting lessons in handling the media, dealing with agents and GMs and most have informal discussions with NHL GMs long before their draft day. They know what's expected of them, and when they're with their NHL teams they get managed to a high degree and older players take them under their wing and mentor them to show them the ropes.

And why are they in and Drouin isn't? Attitude ....our kids are humble , keep ears open and eyes shut. Drouin is a self intitled prima doña that thinks he's owed something.
- Bullfrog77

because he's played a year at that level already. The kid is a hard worker, this is a known fact. I have a hard time believing he's in that bad of shape. Do I agree with not showing up in the A? No, definetly not a classy move. But he's asked to be moved and has overall not really got his fair shake in TB IMO

If you can get an asset at a discount, particularly when you're in the position the Canucks are, then you've got to consider it.

So drop horvat plus for a cancer in you're room....no thanks.

I would love that line but would Stamkos want to be second line RHW instead of 1C
- VANTEL

I think as long as ice time was the same and they could rotate starts on the top PP then why not. The twins arent exactly looking for the spot light could see them saying (frank) it and going to 2nd PP or stamkos with them on the first might be good actually.

For every season a player plays in the WHL, they receive a full year guaranteed Scholarship, including tuition, textbooks and compulsory fees, to a post-secondary institution of their choice. For example, players graduating from a four-year WHL career are eligible to receive four years of scholarship funding. The WHL Scholarship, combined with additional financial assistance from Universities in Western Canada, makes the WHL – Canada West Universities joint scholarship equivalent to any other offer available in North America today....research before speak

Also, Tampa has better players.
- CubanBuffet

True ...so all future kids that come up, if they can't get a guaranteed nhl spot after the draft should just pout, throw a fit, demand a trade and go home until they get their wish?

I will add that Drouin seems to be the type of player that gives JB a boner. Canucks did have scouts ther tonight along with about 8 teams. I think if Benning learnt anything about young players attitude , he probably got an advanced lesson by trading Seguin one year too early.

Drouin would fit into the plan and I think it has to do with the cost. I think this is going to be a huge year for Canucks movement. Would you prefer signing Lucic or rather take a chance on a third overall draft pick.

I don't know what this means. I am in no way advocating dropping a hot at plus. I'm married for Christ sake.

No, I'd look at him when he shows that he's not going to be a distraction or a locker room issue. His trade value's going to stay low regardless.
- DariusKnight

I am with you on this. Sure I wasn't even close too being as responsible or mature at 20 as I am now but I firmly believe that regardless of how mature you are good character will shine through. The he's just a kid doesn't work for me. My 5 year old knows what we expect from him though doesn't know what the word means. Drouin knows what is expected of him he has to take ownership of this situation falling on his shoulders.

I don't care that he made a bad decision. People make mistakes. Its about character and I don't know if he has a good one. I didn't make an excuse I laid out facts. By every definition he is a man. People are so worried about these young mens feelings they're raising a bunch of self entitled pu$$ies.

I don't care about his feelings. But just because he's not mature now doesn't mean he won't be. People mature at different rates. But now that his character's in question you might be able to get him on the cheap. If you can, go for it, or at least consider it. If you can't, then it's not worth the risk.

I personally want nothing to do with Lucic, Ladd, Buff, etc due to age. Stamkos is a couple years younger and probably will hold up longer due to his style of play.

Im interested in college or european ufas in their early to mid 20s that will grow with the team for long term success not a short term fix with a garbage contract.

So id be interested in Drouin but it is risky. The orielly BS might be something in the future with this guy too.

I have been pushing hard over the last month to draft a top line forward. This eliminates that need and lets us directly concentrate on D. LW is a weakness on this team and this move would probably speed it up right away with a NHL ready forward.

You look at it at the very least. If his character wasn't in question then we wouldn't have a chance. It's a risk, but that's the way it goes. There's no such thing as a risk free move.

With Drouin none of us have the facts. If he was disrespected by his coach management I would also ask for a trade. The lightning have had months to put a deal together and have done nothing so he might just be done with it. All situations are different so really its tough to comment on but I could see myself doing the same thing depending on what happened.

And so asked for a trade as both his stats and points warrant NHL icetime on the other 29 teams in the league.

Your first reaction is Prima Donna, self centre, cancer etc... He is Daniels replacement in two years. With probably 10-12 years of being productive. Again I look at this as a Baertschi type deal with a big upside.

If he is a bad dude you can bury him. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
