This is sounding more and more like Hodgson a few years ago.
Wonder if Drouin is a head case as well.
I gotta believe he has contributed as much to the situation as management has, after all it isn't in the teams best interest to screw with a 3rd overall pick who showed great production in Jrs.

I think its more like Turris in Arizona, they jerked him around, had enough, was waiting to sit out to be traded. At the time people were very negative about him, entitled, etc.

Well look at how its turned out for Ottawa, sometimes young players just need to get out of a bad situation, its not always the players fault, sometimes team management is just as toxic

I actually love the move by Drouin and Walsh. Honestly Yzerman and Cooper are just as much, if more at fault for this. I usually think Walsh is a douche canoe but he is sticking it to Yzmeran on this one with just cause

Drouin quietly asked for a trade 2-3 months ago, and they have dragged it out and created a media circus with the way they have handled the situation

That was my thinking as well from what I red. Tough choice if I would want him on the team. But.. there was similar to a extent , with the ROR signing. I felt the same about the Vanek signing . Thought WTF ..we thought you wanted to stay here. But a payday like he was offered, I would have said no hard feelings too.

Edit: Love the Vulture giff in the tampa thread

You just stole that opinion from the TB thread and the tweet by Mike in Buffalo....

Just kidding, it still is relevant.

To my knowledge Yzerman hasn't called Drouin a wussy. Yet. Remember what AV called Hodgson out because of his back injury?

Its business, not every player that is a high pick has a team imposed lifetime loyalty because they drafted them.

If they situation is bad for both sides, be mature about it and move on, no need to play this cat and mouse game with Drouin and the Lightning are doing

It could be that as well no doubt.
I just think many young players feel entitled...Grigorenko was another who wore his welcome out early with many of the Vets here in Sabreland with his entitled attitude.

Could be either or, we don't know yet.

I agree, but it doesn't make him any less of a tool. Why doesn't he just say what the deal was? That would really put the screws to Yzerman.

The Lightning can wait it out, find the trade that suits there needs.

Look at Evander Kane, he asked for a trade for 5 years before he got dealt and he never female doged to the press, he just played his game. And when asked, he lied and said, no, he didn't ask for a trade. There were rumblings, but they were always shut down by the team and him.

Yep. Wish it would be like back in the day before lawyers. Hope it works out for both parties.

I wonder where the NHLPA comes down on this. I really don't feel like reading the CBA. The rule book is easy, because all you have to do is search "Fighting", but where would you even look in the CBA? Grievances maybe?

On a completely different note; I'm curious to know how Rodrigues is playing in Rochester. I know he has 4 and 14 and is -8, but the Amerks aren't exactly writing the world on fire. And what line is playing mostly on? Stuff like that. He made some real nice plays for the Sabres in preseason/training camp. Is he in a Reinhart type situation where he has to get bigger before they give him a shot? He's listed at 5'11" and 174.

Wow, I was way off. In 13-14 the average weight was 203.7 and height was just over 6'1" age was 27.8.

I think, if it's even possible, that Allan Walsh is an even bigger D-Bag than Drew Rosenhaus.

Until he calls a press conference with Drouin doing sit ups in his driveway, this will always be a false statement.

TSN with an article about Brian Burke campaigning to widen the ice surface to 90' from current 85'. He has Jimmy Delvechio from Detroit on board, with Detroits new arena designed to accommodate the wider ice surface in the future.

I would love it as one of the ways to open the game up through the neutral, zone and give more room to maneuver in the O-zone. Along with enforcing the existing rules on hooking, holding, interference, etc. maybe the game would open up...and make the Goalie equipment smaller to increase scoring.

This boring brand of hockey today has to change, and the fans are getting more vocal about it.

To be fair to Drouin, Kane was able to ask for his trade while continuing to play in the NHL.

TB isn't giving Drouin the opportunity to ask for a trade and then just play his game and lie about it when asked.

Not sure i want drouin for anymore than something like schaller and 2nd round pick at this point.

Not discrediting his potential talent or his decent numbers for limited play. I dont blame him or his agent for playing hardball but at the end of the day he hasnt been traded probably due to a ridiculous asking price for a player who really hasnt done poop in the league.

I hope it continues to get ugly because the price should most certainly continue to drop.
