ZING...btw are we all aware of his drunk cousin that sits a row or two off the glass at Flyers games? it looks so much like him
EDIT: pretty sure it's this guy holding the sign but not the best pic

That was a frustrating loss. I'm anazed at how ghost keeps doing that steal for a goal thing. Laughton will get better and hopefully umberger is gone next season. I think next season we can hope for a playoff run but I'm not holding my breath this year. |

Giroux is a bit off-piste.
Teams are watching video on the Flyers and bottling them up in the neutral zone and minding the gaps in a tight checking trap-esque game promotes frustration and a trend of Flyers players trying to do too much and play less of a team game. - Pixote Andolini
On the PP teams are overloading his side and playing in his face very aggressively a lot. Should open up scoring chances for Jake and Ghost. |

Only clicked the link to see if you were kidding.
...then one-timed that patented slapper of his to beat Leafs goalie James Reimer through the five-hole at 12:59 of the third period.
You weren't.
That is just awful journalism right there. Awful. - Scoob
I haven't paid attention to that moron in over a decade.

regarding Laughton not being waiver exempt, how is that possible? I thought it was based on pro games and Cousins has 195 pro games and is exempt whereas Laughton has 125. |

I wonder if they should try Gostisbehere in Voracek's spot and move Voracek to Schenns. I feel they overload the Giroux and Gostisbehere area and aren't afraid of Voracek shooting the one timer.
Maybe put Streit up top of the umbrella and Giroux and Gostisbehere on the half boards.
I think they need to look at something to see if they can start creating a little. At 29th ranked I think they afford to try something new. |

Age. Laughts is 21. 80-games was is the threshold for him:

Getting Koneckny in the top six will allow them to play Raffl in a bottom six/3rd line role which will help. Adding another reliable guy with size, a la Dwight King type, this summer would be a good move as well.
Ghoulbourne may be a viable player to replace say Ryan White. Leier maybe a fit as well.
They can easily rework the bottom six. Much tougher to get a top pair D and top 2 centers.
Goalies have been very good.
D is a work in progress and the future seems bright there too. |

I think they could try something new. The good news is I think the 2nd PP is showing some life with Streit and Medvedev at the points. |

Yeah. The roster just doesn't mesh right now.
Add in Koencny to the top 6. Agree Raffl seems like a good 3rd line winger. I think Leier can replace Read's roll in bottom 6.
I like the idea of someone like Dwight King. That's why I would have taken a chance with Kassian on waivers. Goulbourne can fill the white roll and kill penalties. I like Martel in Lehigh. Kid has blazing wheels and could be a sleeper. |

Agree.
The 1st PP is stagnant and predictable right now. Doesn't have to be a huge shift of players but just a tweak for a different look. |

Last night's loss was the most frustrated I've been in a while with the Flyers. We all had our realistic low-ish expectations of our team this year, but the way we've played in the past 2 months last night seemed we'd be fine. I think what frustrates me more is Ghost made a highlight reel play to tie the game, we had the momentum, we get a PP, and we lose. Just a serious of unfortunate events. Especially the fact that their GW goal hit MDZ knee, THEN post, then in. I was confident we'd win in OT too.
Side note, one play made me scratch my head a bit. Why was it solely a penalty for the Flyers when Bellemare ran into the Reimer ? I thought Reimer should have gotten a penalty for his excessive throwing of punches. |

That age you're referring to is how old the player is when he signs his ELC contract, not how old the player currently is.
Poorly written article. |

but he didn't sign his ELC at 21. that link says its based on when the player signs the ELC.
when is it based on pro games (Cousins and Alt won't be exempt next year and obviously don't have 80 or 160 NHL games) |

Laughts signed his ELC on 08/08/2012, so it's been more than 3-years since. He meets that threshold.
'Age', I believe, is determined at the beginning of a season is based off draft-age. Laughts was 21 when the season started based off that. |

Weal said Couturier is 50/50 to play vs Pgh
Good to see Weal has gone from healthy scratch to GM! |

I think a decent goal for the Flyers this year would be to crack the first round of the playoffs to get some experience for the young guys.
FWIW, I don't think there is any point in sending down Laughton. He needs more NHL time. Unfortunately Hackstol doesn't trust him yet.
