All I know is that I was going to watch the ASG only because John Scott was playing. Then I wasn't going to watch when the NHL orchestrated the trade to keep him out. Now I'm going to watch again.

Still sucks that Scott has to move across a continent to another country just as his wife is due to give birth to twins because the NHL behaved like a petulant child when it didn't get its way.

Paragraph one, totally agree

Paragraph two, totally agree. The NHL is so stupid. Put the guy on the ballot, get mad when we vote for him. And I love the resistance from all the "hockey people". You were supposed to vote for Crosby and Ovetchkin only!!!! Then you have to love how a star in the league has a brutally down year and still gets voted in. What a crock is that?

And just took a 500k paycut....

If I were him I would sue. I think he has grounds. He got screwed because the fans voted him into something that he never asked for.

How so? Is his a two-way contract? The only info I've seen suggests his contract was a one-year contract for guaranteed $575,000.

Regardless, the move and this ASG vote may well have ensured this was Scott's final NHL contract.

If you watch really carefully, you will see Duclair yank on Bogo's sweater collar right before Bogo lost his mind.... probably the straw that broke the camel's back.. just saying

plus it was kind of fun to watch...

Off topic, but What happens at C?

You have Eichel, O'Reilly, Reinhart, ZG....

Is ZG really going to be a #4 or will he be moved? Reinhart is atleast a #2 (not just yet) . So what happens a year or two from now? Who is the #2 and #3 C. Or does Reinhart just play Wing?

I say this cause I believe Reinhart and O'Reilly are both top 6 material.

- storm88

Looks like Reinhart will stay on the wing
Girgensons will either be 3C or a top6 winger. His versatility is valuable to us bc he can slot in pretty much wherever & fill multiple roles

Saw something online about him having twins and going from making 575k in the NHL to 55k or something in the A. Not sure how that really works just remember reading that.

Don Cherry said that too. He also said shame on the fans for doing this to John Scott. At least we know Cherry is still an idiot.

I like John, but let's not pretend the only possible reason he was sent to the AHL was because the league didn't want him in the All Star Game.

I get that asking him to waive the vote results looks kind of stinky, but isn't it possible they knew about the trade ahead of time, and asked him to back off to avoid the mess, rather than creating the mess as the result of his refusal to back off?

The NHL made this mess to begin with, last year with Girgs, this year with Scott. I am 100% certain that the fans will find a loophole every year now just to make Bettman look like a bigger idiot. You know the voting will change next year but there will still be a loophole and you know damn well we will expliot it.

According to spotrac, Scott does not have a 2-way contract, so he'll be getting his full salary

Not sure if it was you, but someone mentioned Don Cherry....

Don Cherry and "in the know" should never be used together in a sentence.

Why can u "find a bottom pair guy anywhere" but say that "good 4th liners are important"
Seems contradictory to me
If anything,
I'd say your 3rd pair is more important than your 4th line
Especially when injuries occur

- jdfitz77

You can find 4th lines guys anywhere too. I can bring up a list on general fanager of at least 20. Schaller looks like a really good 4th liner which is why I'm excited for him.

McNabb would be a really good 3rd pairing and if that's where he was yeah, I'd be excited. But just like if we lost Schaller I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Your top 6 and your top 2 are what are going to make you a good team. Your bottom 6 and bottom pairings are going to make you even better if they're good. At this point I'm more focused on the top half.

It does only show his cash earning as 260k though for this year, I will have to find the article i saw it in and re-read (reed) it.

It shows part of the earnings paid by the Coyotes, and the other part of the earnings will be paid by MTL.

No scandal.

PS. In eight years, John earned $4Million. I'm willing to be my salary this year that his eight year in come is more than any of us will make in our entire careers - whether we have twins or not.

I'm sure he's not hurting for money in general. Even when his career comes to an end in the NHL, he has an engineering degree. He's not a dumb box of rocks like people try and make him out to be.

He's not even the bad guy he's made out to be. Coming here from Chicago he only had a reputation for being big. Then the few suspensions he got here and after were mostly because he's that much bigger than people + NHL bias in discipline.

What was the worst thing he even did while he was here? Went after Kessel? Kessel was the one doing the lumberjack swings. I don't remember him really hurting someone while he was here.

In fact, one of the only things I remember is Mike Millbury being really upset about something and saying he didn't deserve to be in the league. Guy who beat a fan with his own shoe.
