Montreal traded him specifically because he was a cancer in the room.

The Leafs management really soured on him after he was arrested in Vancouver.

His entire career he has been vocal about not getting enough ice time, or not being used the way he wanted to be used.

Liles we traded for Gleason, only to buy him out...why not use the actual buyout on liles from the get go? Eat 1 year of Komi and then save the eyars of the liles/gleason buyout...?

The Gleason buyout was just dumb too. He had one year left on a team that was going nowhere anyway. Keep him, let him play it out and maybe you find a trade partner at some point.

I agree with everything you wrote above, except maybe the opposition of the Liles for Gleason trade.

IIRC, they were both about the same amount of $, for the same amount of term left.

What the hell - doesn't hurt to try. Maybe Gleason could have found something again with a new team. Didn't work, obviously.

buyout Liles and Grabovski thats two players with big contracts going forward...use a normal buyout on Komisarek for 1 season and voila, dont have to make trades, dont have to eat salary down the road...just komi for that next season and you move on.
