He was the heart and soul of the team and Nonis didn't get it. He figured Clarkson would replace that and it backfired on him. That buyout was one of the worst moves Nonis made.......and it led directly to probably THE worst in signing Clarkson.

Not if Minny is looking for offense. It would be Leo, Naz or Bozie in a package if anything.

Rundblad carried him, but Rundblad couldn't adjust to the speed of the NHL. He needs too much time to do anything. Erixon was a jack of all trades and sometimes that just means you're mediocre at the next level like Gormley.

I thought I saw some statistic sorcery pointing towards Erixon saving Rundblad's ass defensively but it's been a long time. It is surprising that neither of them ended up being long term NHLers though.

Oh well, it's not like Ottawa could use Tarasenko anyway.

I'd love to get either, but I prefer Dumba only cuz as a right handed shot, he'd be a perfect partner for Rielly moving forward. Polak and Robidas are done and nobody knows what Corrado will become.

Grabbo wasn't a good guy in the dressing room.

Not only did we get Clarkson, but we also traded away what I think was 2 second rounders and a 4th rounder for Bolland to play 20 games and go IR then walk at the end of the season.

Komi had already been sent to the AHL and cleared waivers, and had 1 season left and we used our buyout on him. huge mistake.

Liles we traded for Gleason, only to buy him out...why not use the actual buyout on liles from the get go? Eat 1 year of Komi and then save the eyars of the liles/gleason buyout...?

Nonis really was stupid.

I agree with everything you wrote above, except maybe the opposition of the Liles for Gleason trade.

IIRC, they were both about the same amount of $, for the same amount of term left.

What the hell - doesn't hurt to try. Maybe Gleason could have found something again with a new team. Didn't work, obviously.

agreed....buying out grabbo was one thing but the resulting deals after it were absolutely atrocious
