I hope he has saved his money up. I doubt he stays in the NHL much longer, unless he sees the light or something.. - bixll
He got hot for a few games and has done nothing since (except being injured). Guess he was just a flash in the pan. |

Actually, for someone who is usually a thoughtful, sane writer, this piece should be re-titled as "Five Trades That Will NEVER Be Made At the Trade Deadline".
Why would NJ pick up Lupul at $5.25 m x 2 years when they are paying $0 for Clowe on LITR and his cash covered by insurance? They can use their money wisely, not for Lupul. This is not like CBJ, which had no insurance on Horton and thus had to pay him out. The Leafs can afford to waste $20M to put him on LTIR, CBJ wanted a pulse for it and got Clarkson's.
Why would you move Komarov for the 29th or 30th pick? That yield a 30% chance of a guy who will play 150 games in the NHL. Hold out for a better package or keep him as a building block. You need vets along with the kids as Edmonton has proved. He is solid.
Etc. Etc. Etc. Although Dion does Dallas would be good for Leafs, I doubt they want to take on his term. Nice try on that one. - BorjeSittler
he's not on LITR thus taken up cap space even if his insurance is paying his salary. |

The Revenant is going to win every award at the Oscars and I fail to see why. Excellent acting by DiCaprio, he is finally going to win one, and deserves it.
But best movie? It was entertaining yes... but it was an empty, violent movie. What does that say about society and our attitude towards violence, blood lust, brutality etc.
Still... much better than the movie about the transgender dude (or chick?... dude that turns into chick). That's way worse.
EDIT: The Danish Girl - domi_legend

NJ is paying for Clowe, thats the whole reason this was mentioned.

What dream world Mike Augello lives in I am not aware of, but he does dream BIG. No less than a 1st rounder and other players for Toronto's crap. |

salary combined with low skills.
The Calgary Phaneuf used to be a physical presence, and his shot was a threat on PP.
The Toronto Phaneuf was the reason why Leafs lost game 7 vs Bruins. The guy can't skate, clear the net, has no proper d-zone exit, and does not contribute positively to PP or offensive output in general.
(I could add as well that he's top5 in unlikeable players/personalities in the league, but since that's subjective let's not go into that discussion (he's in the Marchand, Zac Rinaldo, Burrows, Sean Avery category)). |
