2nd rounder, he's yours

How much salary are you retaining? How's he doing this year I've heard nothing about him since he was UFA?

They're gonna need to do a backflip to get rid of Hagelin if he doesn't' produce. Even if his NTC is voided, no one is taking a $4m/yr player that can't play in the top 6.
- jfkst1

Well, the Penguins found someone willing to take on Perron. So we just don't know. I think Hagelin will work out fine.

Weren't many backflips involved in the Hagelin deal because the assets the Penguins parted with weren't very useful.

The risk/reward factor is the contract. If he fits with Geno, 4 mil is a great deal and we'll be glad they added a guy with term. If not...

Pretty sure I remember no one wanted Jussi if it was going to be 4/4. He was a proven fit with Geno.

Maybe I'm old, staid and stubborn, but this is what's wrong with sports today. Players as assets instead of as icons.

Funny thing is the ruthless asset mongers and the "advanced" stats guys are typically one and the same. No need to measure loyalty by the team or the player, or any kind of intangibles when the spreadsheet tells you otherwise.

What's Sam Ventura doing for the Penguins, anyhow? Remember how it was claimed that he was the Penguins' most important addition last offseason?!?

Sullivan certainly doesn't seem like he gives a hen's patoot about "advanced" stats.

Fleury is a big part of the team from a personality standpoint. I think he is a great team guy and a big asset in the dressing room. That said, the Pens should be bringing up Murray after the trade deadline. Let Fleury get some rest and see what you have in Murray.

If Murray can prove he is the real deal, Fleury should be shopped. I'd like to see what a team like Calgary, Buffalo or Toronto might offer. In 2 years that Fleury contract will be an anchor.

You're correct with Richards because his contract was signed under the old CBA. If Chicago buys out Scuderi, it reduces the Penguins commitment to him proportional to their retained salary.

I thought, and I have been wrong once or twice, that the original team that signs the contract is responsible for the recapture? I'm almost positive. It's why no one would even take a chance on Richards.

Prob a good thing to at least get DP some more practice time in before putting him in. Hopefully his stint isn't wasted by him rotting in the box too much.

Agreed 100%. This way he gets a few practice days at the very least and isn't thrown to the wolves right away. I wonder who gets scratched when that time comes. Gotta think it'll be Lovejoy.

I doubt that. Lovejoy is playing better than people want to admit and he is the only RHD after Letang. Cole would be my guess as he has been a hs already this season.

I agree. I'd put DP in for Cole play Lovejoy and if DP can hang, then send Warsofsky back down to wbs when healthy and make Cole the 7th.

Give him a chance to get back with the team and have a few practices before calling it a waste. They play Philly at home on Thursday, that would give him a few days to get up to speed on things and get settled in at the home rink. If they don't play him after tonights game I agree.

I only say that because Cole has 3 years left on his deal. Maybe they make another trade involving Cole. Who knows.
