I think you're misunderstanding what I mean
McNabb & Pysyk would be key parts to our future defense for the next decade
Injury to Pysyk & the trade of McNabb has us playing Georges, Franson, Weber & Coliacovo (sp?)...
All of whom are not in our long term plans
I didn't say defense was a problem,
I said we're still trying to put in together
And I meant in terms of what our future defense will look like

- jdfitz77

I think it might be a medium term problem. With those guys playing you're not looking great. However, you have a good amount of prospects on D that are looking good. You also have a top 2 guy and likely 3 of your top 4 on the roster. If McCabe hadn't taken such a step forward or Pysyk not been able to play after that scare this summer I might be in your boat. But I think both McCabe and Pysyk will be better than McNabb so I'm not too upset.

The NHL is officially letting John Scott captain the Pacific All-Star team...

it must have been the negative tweets I sent to the NHL twitter handle that did the trick.

a$$hats.

I don't agree with this.

was a .72 PPG in 13-14 and a 1.33PPG player in the playoffs

was a ..67 PPG in 14-15 and a .92 PPG player in the playoffs (was traded mid-season. He was a .81 PPG on original team but play dipped on new team)

Is a .72 PPG in 15-16 and now traded again.

EITHER WAY.. he is 19 years old until May and will probably end the year in Rochester.

- JVince11

.72ppg to .67ppg to .72ppg does not show offensive progression IMO
Most good Juniors players, even if on a bad team or traded, etc still see their scoring go up
Karabacek has not
Even if u consider his .81ppg with his original team, that's still fairly insignificant when come pared to others that end up making an NHL impact at some point

I'm still gonna sign the guy & see how he does in Rochester, but at a glance, I don't see much to be too optimistic about

Few 2016 prospect fun facts.

The top NA and European ranked players in the draft were both born in Phoenix.

The top 5 prospects according to ISS are either Finnish or American.

The highest ranked Canadian is 7th.

What an odd year.

- TheSabresTaco

Canada doesn't think those facts are fun at all

Idk if u saw earlier, but I had McCabe penciled in on the top pair with Risto
I agree with what you're saying for the most part,
Just think we'd be in better shape if we still had McNabb
If anything,
Guhle's play has helped ease his loss as far as our future D lineup is concerned
But he's still got a lot of work to do defensively, so we'll see how he works out

Baptiste didn't struggle after getting traded to a team last year that had McDavid, Strome, and DeBrincat on it. He scored 53 in 42 games but is not doing good in Rochester.

I think anything can go any way and we have no idea... forming opinions on these kids seems kind of stupid at this point to me.

Good. Scott did nothing wrong, no need to punish him. From everything I hear he's a stand up guy so why not let him have fun with an event that is supposed to be fun?

In the future, would you rather see an alumni game instead of an all star game? Each team votes in 1 alumni player and the fans vote in the rest. Players still get a week off and can do the skills. I'd watch that more than I'd watch this.

Good. I'm glad he gets to go. He's legitimately a good guy. It's not his fault the fans made a mockery of the voting system. The NHL needs to honor it and do what's right by him.

Do I think he necessarily deserves to be there based on play? No. But I think it's the right thing to do, based on the parameters the league set up in the first place.

Might have a log jam at that point.

Like I said, I think McNabb is better than Weber but the difference of a 3rd pairing isn't something I lose sleep about. Since I have Pysyk and McCabe over him and I have Bogosian and Ristolainen as well that's where he'd fit in for me. I can find a bottom pairing guy anywhere. Just my opinion

RNH out 6-8 weeks... McDavid out until after the all-star break.

Means good things for guys who have Taylor Hall on their fantasy team.

Most reports are stating that Possler would be NA bound next season as well. A lot of offensive talent there and an actual LW but his ceiling is listed a mid-line scorer.
- JVince11

He's an intriguing prospect to me
I'm very interested to see how he adjusts next year

I like your thinking here...

McCabe - Risto
Bogo - Pysyk

is McNabb better than any of those guys long term... probably not. On a stacked LA team he looks good but who knows if that carries over to this team TODAY.

I remember at the rookie camps he was the only one that could beat Zads and Risto in 1 on 1 rushes because he was BLAZING fast.

I hope Gionta retires and ROR is named Captain...then demands all the forwards attend ROR practice until they are averaging 3 goals per game.
If Gionta could convince Moulson it is time to go, I'd give them both a nice bonus from Uncle Terry.

- IonSabres

Gionta's last year is next season
I'm assuming he'll still be here, so I'm hoping its on the 4th line

Possler has stayed at about a .5 PPG player on a STACKED MODO team as I am told. thats pretty solid for the Swedish league. That's like being a 1+PPG player in Juniors if I understand it right.

Maxim Lapierre leads MODO in points this year. Thought that was a weird fact to throw out there.

Possler and Olofsson are there together and 3rd/4th respectfully in pts on the team.

You can't do that to a captain. They should trade him to a contending team just for the heck of it if that is the plan. take a 6th rounder from LA or MTL or CHI. That just seems rude to me.

ROR needs the C. Bogo and Kane probably with A's next year.

I don't really care about TODAY
It doesn't necessarily have to be McNabb, obv that ship has sailed
But u do need 3rd pair guys that can step up & play on the 2nd pair when injuries happen
But thats why I always though he & Pysyk could be so valuable for us

If we still have guys like Franson & Weber potentially playing 18min a night a year or 2 from now then I don't think we'll have the depth we need to truly compete

Not sure where you'r hearing MODO is stacked, because that's pretty much the opposite of everything I've heard.

Why can u "find a bottom pair guy anywhere" but say that "good 4th liners are important"
Seems contradictory to me
If anything,
I'd say your 3rd pair is more important than your 4th line
Especially when injuries occur

I'm not saying don't sign the guy
He just hasn't progressed offensively like one would expect a 2nd round pick to do
That's a concern IMO
