So who is more doomed?

The Sabres or the Bills?

Just trying to keep this straight.

I say the Bills. I do not see that ship righting itself anytime soon. I see a much brighter future for the Sabres.

Are we still talking about the kane myers trade???

It wasnt just a player swap. Myers was about to go on a ntc and stafford was a pending ufa. Also we needed to get worse yet retain salary to gurantee eichel. Thats where kane comes in. He was injured yet he still counted against our cap. If we had 3 points more we might have ended up with strome. Also we were about to lose Lemiuex bcz he refused to sign his elc with buffalo.

As far as a straight players swap the deal favors the jets as far as what the deal actually meant to buffalo it was a good deal for buffalo.

We didnt just get bogo and kane. We guranteed eichel with that trade.

the nhl needs to get this on a level playing field sooner rather than later

16 teams for 8 spots in the east

14 teams for 8 spots in the west

it's been a bit now, time for a plan of attack to make it fair for all teams

Thought I read the other day that there were some more meetings about expansion taking place. Gotta figure it's announced this year or next, and likely a quick turnaround in getting those franchises (within 1 season of the announcement).

"Last week, the NHL Players Association approved realignment for three seasons through the 2015-16 season."

I have heard nothing on extending that deal

doubtful, I don't see a reason an expansion team would take such a waste.

last draft, 26 of the 28 teams existing in the league at the time of the draft were each allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards.

The last time the NHL expanded was in 2000, and they held a draft to fill the rosters of the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets. The rules for protecting players on existing teams were the following:

Choose to protect either nine forwards, five defensemen, and one goalie or seven forwards, three defensemen, and two goalies

If protecting one goalie, there is no experience requirement for the goalie left unprotected. If protecting two goalies, they must leave one goalie unprotected who played in at least 10 games the prior season, or 25 combined games over the past two seasons

Teams must leave one defenseman and two forwards unprotected who played 40 NHL games the prior season, or 70 combined games over the prior two seasons

Players on entry-level contracts are automatically exempt, and every existing team will have exactly two players selected

This is from Wikipedia about the 2000 draft
26 of the 28 teams existing in the league at the time of the draft were each allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards. The Atlanta Thrashers and Nashville Predators had their entire rosters protected, as they were the two newest franchises in the league, only being in existence for one and two years respectively.

We leave Moulson unprotected and hope for the best.

If a draft was held next week, my guess is we would lose Deslauriers and either Gorges or Franson

They did not miss the playoffs the year before by over 40 points , they did not have a 50% roster turnover , I don't believe they both had new coaches as well . But facts have no place here,

The flyers were the worst team but lost the draft lottery just like us and they traded for a poopload of players and whole new team basically
