Look chances of Flyers trading for Buff are low but EK is not wrong. Where there is smoke there is fire. I could see the Flyers being interested in Buff but Hextall wont make a rash move to get better now. If the Flyers want Buff they will push for him in the offseason unless they can get him for a reasonable price. It will be interesting to see what Winnipeg does. If he has no intention of resigning, do you deal him or keep him and try to make the playoffs.

Fact is Buff is an elite Dman and a #1 guy and that is a decision Hexy will need to make. Look at the Pronger deal that was a great deal for Philly. In return for Pronger the Ducks received Lupul who didnt pan out in Anaheim, Sbisa who never lived up to the hype and is no longer with the ducks and then the two picks that they received were Etem and Palmeri. Palmeri is having a great season but that is with NJ. Pronger lead the Flyers to the finals and if it wasnt for the injury, the Flyers would still be contenders

It is up to Hextall to decide whether he believes getting a #1 guy now is important or hope that one of the guys here can become one. Just because they have high potential does not mean they will reach it. Many prospects fail to live up to expectations.

Isn't that the goal??
- Fruitcakenipple

suits your argument well, since the leafs have just been down right terrible. The Flyers, as an organization, have been much more consistent than the leafs - those are facts. The leafs have made the playoffs 1 time in the last 10 seasons. You really have no basis for talking. Your franchise is a disgrace.

Hextall won't sacrifice the future for rentals, he's said that over and over and the recent trades he has made have massively helped the team. In hextall we trust!!!
- Flyerswest97

but an islander fan (of all people) just said the flyers will never learn.

i saw it on the internet.

I hope the Flyers give up two good prospects for him and re-sign him to a massive long term deal.
- jfkst1

I'd say I hope the Penguins do the same, but let's be real, the Penguins don't have any prospects.

ridiculous rumor ideas, bad writing, spelling errors, anything people may post a complaint about. a post is a post. need more advertising. need more arcade games in his house.

entirely pathetic. no shame.

"Where there is smoke there is fire."

Where's the fire ? Ek rumors ? Good lord tell me you're kidding. I haven't heard one insider, not named Eklund, say the Flyers were after Buf. There's no fire, it's just alot of hot air

Shouldn't they be more focused on unloading and draft building...Buff makes sense for a contender and thats something the Flyers not close to being...
- Fruitcakenipple

in case you haven't noticed, that's exactly what they're focused on and hextall is doing a hell of a job. 3-5 years from now, this team will be significantly improved.

Oh course, the main problem here is that Leaf fans have had to re-represent or re-define what a success is.

Because they have been god awful for so long, yet the Flyers (or Canucks etal) have not won a cup either ever or in a long time, then to a delusional Leaf fan, these franchises are equal.

But of course they are not. They are not allowed to stick their brand of crazy against our brands and say they are the same. The Flyers and the Canucks have clearly been better since the first expansion era. Anyone who says otherwise has limited knowledge of hockey.

Didn't Hextal say when he started he was going to draft & develop & not sign ageing players on big contracts??

Hmmmmmmmmmm? Looks like the exact opposite here! Flyers would love to get hold of that huge grub Buff - cheap shot heaven!!

Hextall has already accumulated a ton of extra draft picks for the next two years and may add more, so trading a couple of prospects for the best chance at re signing buff wouldn't be giving up on the draft and develop model

I want Big Buff no where near the Bruins

Sure the Bruins need defensive help, but with the picks and prospects they have they should be looking at younger cost controlled defenders. He will not be worth the price to acquire and sign, don't do it Don.

Now Trouba is another story

The Flyers are 5 years ahead of the Leafs
- Ross77

not really, the aren't the flyers supposed to winning now while giroux and voracek are in their primes? laffs got some elite prospects coming up and could be getting another in the draft this year

The Flyers probably have the deepest D prospects in the league and will have a very impressive D within 3 years. Girioux, Vorachek, B.Schenn, Cotourier, Simmonds, Rafl if all still on the team will be far from old and still have great years left. Konecny will only add to that forward crop. They have good goal-tending now but also drafted 3 in last years draft, and probably have accumulated more draft picks in the top 3 rounds than all other teams for the next two drafts. Id say with the young talent they already have plus the ones on the way, they are way ahead of the Leafs who have many more holes now and in their system

As a flyers fan i would be dissapointed by ading any defence whatsoever,we have morin, sanheim, provorov, hagg.Lets take a serious run at a guy like stamkos to play with giroux, maybe okposo if the islanders decide to move him.Hextall says he is eyeing the 2017-18 season then keep developing prospects and if anything bring back gagner or mcdonald from minors and let them play now and then to try to deal them.

I love this stupid buff to flyers rumours. EK always has a boner when he talks about the flyers and makes up the most RIDIC stuff... its very humourous..

Get real ek your flyers will be bad as the leafs for a looooooooooong time, stop boosting them, save the wood for your old lady, its getting old. (Pun intended)

- Burkefection

First, the Flyers don't want or need Buff. It would be a monstrously stupid move. At this point in time, this is all about Ek, and hammering this Buff to Flyers rumor time after time year after year and it not happening can't be good for his reputation.

Second, don't paint the Flyers with the same brush as the Maple Leafs. It's not even close.

The Flyers aren't getting Buff. We have legit defenders coming soon.

Pens gonna be the 8th seed again this season, if they're lucky?

Also, Matt Cooke.
