Supporting cast is everything and sometimes it blows my mind at how well the Hawks have built around Toews, Kane and Keith. Key guys leave every year and you guys just keep plugging in new pieces. It's impressive

Very. Tuesday was fun but it seemed like last night Chicago was like ok we aren't playing that wide open game again. They played very structured and took away the neutral zone. I don't recall a team going across the ice with passes as much as they do. Spacing was on point because they always had room to make that pass. And if the pass wasn't there they were trying to sneak that forward behind their own d for the drop pass so he could pick up speed and have some space. We never adjusted and it seemed like we played D the entire game.

Kunitz has like 5 goals in his last 50 games or some crazy stat like that, so I don't care that he had a 35 goal season 3 years ago. He just doesn't deserve to be on the top line, but yet, he gets chance after chance after chance and constantly doesn't score. Had another golden chance last night and didn't even hit the freaking net.

Perron I actually like, and of the 3, I have the least issues with him being on the top line....but again, he has what? 4 goal in his last 50 games or something like that.

Sheary....great, he led the baby pens in scoring...gets up hear and what has he done the last week or so?

Please don't tell me Sprong was given a legit chance at the top line on a team that desperately needs scoring, because we both know he didn't. What was his avg TOI? like 7 minutes, tops? How many shifts did he get playing with Crosby or Malkin? You give him the ice time Kuitz has on the top line and PP and I bet Sprong has more goals than Kuntiz and its not even close. I feel like we have been down this road before with Despres, and look how well that turned out.

I never said anything about him being given a fair chance in the top 6 because he never should have been given a chance in the top 6 because he never showed any reason why he should have been given a fair chance in the top 6, he was given a very fair chance to show that he should be given a chance to play in the top 6 and couldn't capitalize on the chance plain and simple, he couldn't even outproduce Bobby freaking Farnham in comparable ice time. No matter how you want to twist it, the kid was given a very fair chance through 17 games and 3 months of practice to show he should be given a chance and all he showed was that he wasn't ready.

I hope Spong and Despres are nothing alike, if we wait 4 years to find out Sprong is nothing more than a bottom 6 player I will be pissed.

Question is, is that a factor of the FO doing a great job a finding the perfect complements to their core players or is it that their core players do a great job of adjusting to the new players being brought in to complement them? We often here reports about how hard it is to find players to mesh well with Sid and Letang but we never he reports about how hard it is to find players that mesh well with Toews, Kane and Keith. It seems like no matter who plays with those guys it works well while it seems like no matter who skates with Sid/Letang it never works out well.

And it still wasn't anywhere near the number of chances Sprong was given to earn a top 6 look.

if only that was a true statement. 6 minutes of ice time a game, yeah...he got a great chance to produce....but lets run out the same guys over and over and hope for the best.
