Really wish Pens would have gave Sprong an honest chance....but hey, lets keep running stonehands Kunitz out there each game thinking its somehow going to warp into 2012 kunitz....fuking insanity.
- Thorny

On the fence on Sprong. He wasn't playing great after the hot start. It is frustrating to see Kooney lose his hands. He was such a damn good player.

The 40 game limit was a big factor here. I read somewhere that it didnt matter how many games you played in, just that if you were on the NHL roster for 40 games, your 40 game limit kicks in. I could be wrong, but if the latter is the case, wise to send him down. Otherwise, I'd have kept him in the NHL and played him sparingly to ensure he didnt play 40 games this season.

Keith > letang
- Yikes726

I thought Letang was very strong in both of these games. Keith is a stud might be my favorite defenseman in the league. I did take joy in Sid being able to dangle on him though. It was a well deserved 2 points for you guys last night. I wish we would have got more of Tuesday nights game but it just wasn't in the cards. I appreciate the game Chicago plays and their talent. Really fun to watch and that Panarin kid is lights out. Good luck the rest of the way.

My one and only political comment on this board....

Do a little research and tell me the one country where socialism has worked? What this country needs is a dose of pure capitalism with a nationalistic trade policy (like Trump is touting). Not crony capitalism (business buying government policy) like we currently have under both parties.

Pure capitalism requires healthy people work for everything they get.....so I can understand why some people want Bernie Sanders.

Eh... I'll bite.

Just want to preface this by saying I'm a Paultard, but...

The brand of social capitalism that the Scandanavians have implemented actually works really well. It seems to work in Australia and New Zeland as well. However the populations of these countries are quite small and in the case of the Scandanvians at least homogeneous, which I think are key elements to make a system like that function properly. It would be a disaster in a massive and diverse country like the United States.

That's why the key is to defederalize a bit. Programs run more smoothly when the population that it's geared towards is more homogenous, which tends to go hand in hand with the population being smaller

I understand why they sent him down, I just wish he would have got a legit look at playing with Sid or Malkin...and for all those people who like to throw out the...he didn't earn it...wtf has Perron, Kunitz, Duper, Sheary done to earn playing top 6 minutes? So please spare me that garbage. What was the worse thing that could have happen, he didnt play well...they send him down, but we will never know because HCMJ pretty much ruined any chance of ever knowing.

The Pens gave Sprong 17 games to show what he had and what he showed was that he wasn't ready for the NHL yet let alone a top 6 role. He was given and honest chance and could capitalize, the responsibility was his not the Pens.

I would have liked to see a look in the top 6 but he didn't seem to be ready to play there. And Perron, Kunitz, Duper have had a long track record of NHL success which would be what they have done. Sheary on the other hand I have no F'ing clue.

Bernie supporters dropped $100k on art history degrees and are pissed that they still live in an apartment serving lattes and want the govt/big business to reimburse them for their own mistakes. They dont own anything so they're ok with massive tax hikes and throwing away their own disposable income. Only reason he is a Senator is because he is from Vermont.
- sammy87

I support Bernie Sanders and absolutely none of that applies to me. Your point is invalid, but nice attempt at generalization.

What appeals to me about him is that he wants to get big business out of our goverment. It has no place there to begin with but greedy politicians take their money and make laws for them.

Kunitz has 7-20+ goal season with a high of 35.
Perron has 3-20+ goal season with a high of 28.
Sheary led the Baby Pens in scoring with 25pts in 24 games

all of those accomplishments are enough to warrant an opportunity to play in the top 6.

Yes, but the opportunities have gone on long enough. Kunitz and Sheary aren't playing good enough hockey to be in the top 6 and Perron isn't producing. We have a very large sample size on two of them and Sheary has played his way back to WBS.

Oh man, if you are a Trump supporter I cant take anything you say seriously ever again. Anyone who votes for that lunatic... I cant even finish that sentence and be remotely nice.

To Sammy's point, our Congress wouldnt let Sanders get into office and turn our goverment into pure Socialism (which if you read the things Sanders says isnt the case anyway). But he would bring the necessary changes to our government that none of the other greedy dirtbags will have the balls to undertake.

Most politicians want to line their pockets or make sure they secure the future of their party, and that takes precedent over actual law making and taking care of "the people". Sanders is the only one who seems half genuine and seems to want to take care of anyone but himself.

I think in this case you need to separate process and results. I think Perron should stay there because he has been working his ass off and he has been close, he has just been snake bit.

Kunitz I think should be dropped. He clearly doesnt have the hands and play making ability that he used to.

Sadly, BB was the best winger on that top line for a bit and I look forward to him coming back.

That'd be an admirable thing if it were true. But instead he voted yes for and still supports a bill that was written by billion dollar companies that are making those companies record profits. A bill many of his fellow party members were paid to vote yes on. He is a hypocrite and he is pulling the wool over peoples eyes the same way Trump is but in the opposite direction. Can we stop with stupid politics now?

Kunitz has like 5 goals in his last 50 games or some crazy stat like that, so I don't care that he had a 35 goal season 3 years ago. He just doesn't deserve to be on the top line, but yet, he gets chance after chance after chance and constantly doesn't score. Had another golden chance last night and didn't even hit the freaking net.

Perron I actually like, and of the 3, I have the least issues with him being on the top line....but again, he has what? 4 goal in his last 50 games or something like that.

Sheary....great, he led the baby pens in scoring...gets up hear and what has he done the last week or so?

Please don't tell me Sprong was given a legit chance at the top line on a team that desperately needs scoring, because we both know he didn't. What was his avg TOI? like 7 minutes, tops? How many shifts did he get playing with Crosby or Malkin? You give him the ice time Kuitz has on the top line and PP and I bet Sprong has more goals than Kuntiz and its not even close. I feel like we have been down this road before with Despres, and look how well that turned out.

I agree, these two teams play hockey the way it was supposed to be played. Fast paced, highly skilled and none of the BS (despite Letang trying to take out Panarin, but understandable). Looks like Sid is coming around for you guys, Malkin is a beast, and Letang has always been one of my favorites. You guys just need a GM like Stan to fill in the supporting players to compliment the stars.

Supporting cast is everything and sometimes it blows my mind at how well the Hawks have built around Toews, Kane and Keith. Key guys leave every year and you guys just keep plugging in new pieces. It's impressive

It's only fair to have a Russian exchange program. The Pens will send you Plotnikov and you send us Panarin for the rest of the year.
