don't forget nutter, I'm sure he's chock full of good will for the head of the old boys club
- BulliesPhan87

Have to wait for the Flyers to lose a game for that. Shouldn't be too long.

When's the last time a guy ripped up his own big-$/long-term deal to becoming a UFA and keep playing in the league?

Luongo joked about doing it, but he didn't.

The guys you're talking about all went to another league.

Doesn't matter where they went to, a mutual termination where both sides agree to walk away, is far different than a team unilaterally terminating a players contract.

- Is Vinny a liar
- Is Raffl a "core player?"
- Ghost scoring is a good/bad thing
- Medvedev, Schultz, or Schenn to sit
- Who shot JR

Vej seems to have a lot more venom than Nutter does.

Is his loyalty to the union and his determination to get the money owed to him by the Flyers greater than his desire to play hockey? If the answer is yes, then he shouldn't be whining about not playing and publicly indulging in these trade fantasies.
- Feanor

I think his position is a bit more nuanced than that...

Well then he's a liar.

What he really is saying is, "I think I can play at the NHL level, but I'm not confident enough in that to think that somebody will offer my near as much money as I'm making, if at all, to terminate my services to the Philadelphia Flyers."

- jmatchett383

he should be accepting his fate or playing ball with the Flyers if he actually wants to play. Since I have no confidence he will change his stance, the press box it is!

I would love someone to ask him, "If you were given a chance to play on a nightly basis for the veteran minimum, would you?" Because, according to him, playing is the most important thing.

It comes down to there really being next to no reason for vinny to rip up his deal. Vinny holds all the cards now. The flyers played their one card, which is playing time.

I would be shocked if he retired at all before his deal is up

I'm a big fan of the Raffl question. It's hilarious how long people hold onto things around here

The situation that you guys are hoping for has never happened before... and there's a reason for that... it would be an attack on guaranteed contracts.

According to VLC, there should be a lot of suitors. He's solid both ways, or some such poop.
