I don't really get why everybody's so pissed off at him.

Guy doesn't want the ride to end... can you blame him?

- Tomahawk

Everyone's pissed (I think) because he states that he wants to play, yet the Flyers have made it clear they will not play him. So if he wants to play, his best option is to terminate.

He's under no obligation to do so, but the Flyers are under no obligation to play him either.

Not sure how to explain it, but when i looked over the goal totals today and saw how few games he played and how much he's outscoring at least two thirds of our forwards, i laughed.

I don't find it funny, I find it encouraging, that the Flyers finally have a defenseman again that can put the puck in the net at a jaw dropping pace.

Did you realize that the 2 leading scorers on Nashville are defensemen? What a mess that team must be!

Tell me about it. Did you realize that Dallas, Chicago, and Minnesota all have a defenseman in their top-3 in scoring? What a horrible mess those teams are in, to have a high-scoring defenseman.

Well-constructed teams like Edmonton and Columbus should be laughing at them, as they'd never let a defenseman into their top-6 in scoring.

Seriously... as a union member, he's not gonna just terminate, especially after the Richards situation.

obviously he should be doing the Flyers a favor and walk away from money he is owed. I mean, who does he think he is? Accepting the Flyers contract offer and everything. What a jerk.

I personally wouldn't. However, if he wants to do the whole "Playing is more important that money" dance, then his best bet it to terminate and let all of the other teams that agree that he can play at the NHL level have a shot at signing him.

I'm not pissed at him at all. I understand his situation. A player is ready to quit when he's ready. Timonen shouldn't have tried to play again last year, but he wanted to go out on his own terms.

Option A or Option B? I am sorry if my tiny brain could not decipher your answers to my previous question (I was really looking for a "yes" or "no"), so if you would be so kind as to choose whether you think Option A or Option B would be better for the Flyers, I would appreciate it greatly.

So as not to confuse a simpleton like myself, if you could simply reply with a post consisting entirely of, "I would Choose Option _" (with "_" replaced by your selection of A or B), I would appreciate it. Thank you.

To refresh:

Option A: All 3 of Tim Brent, Kevin Goumas, and Joe Rehkamp in the Phantoms lineup and $0 savings (wrt VLC)on the Flyers cap

Option B: VLC and 2 of Tim Brent, Kevin Goumas, and Joe Rehkamp in the Phantoms lineup and $950K savings (wrt VLC)on the Flyers cap

It is his best bet, but it's just mumbo jumbo. It's like listening to a politician speak. Like I said earlier, I ignore anything VLC related unless it's an article announcing his retirement, termination or trade. Anything else just isn't worth it since we all know how this situation will play out if none of the above happens.

The Richards situation is completely different. Lecavalier terminating is not going to affect any players down the road. Plenty of players have terminated before.

Well then he's a liar.

What he really is saying is, "I think I can play at the NHL level, but I'm not confident enough in that to think that somebody will offer my near as much money as I'm making, if at all, to terminate my services to the Philadelphia Flyers."

Is his loyalty to the union and his determination to get the money owed to him by the Flyers greater than his desire to play hockey? If the answer is yes, then he shouldn't be whining about not playing and publicly indulging in these trade fantasies.

This.

At least Kimmo Timonen, in 2007, said he chose the Flyers because they offered him a lot of money.

When's the last time a guy ripped up his own big-$/long-term deal to become a UFA and keep playing in the league?

Luongo joked about doing it, but he didn't.

The guys you're talking about all went to another league.
