Honestly the whole idea of tanking sound ridiculous to me. Why are you one of the very few people playing the sport you love and not sitting in a cubicle all of a sudden going to decide its a good idea to play like shyt on purpose.

I'd like to think hockey players/coaches/managers have a little more pride than that.

I think tanking is a myth.

Nobody wants to be embaressed and lambasted by their city.

They want to win, Period.

- vancity787

you would think yes.
was pretty obvious sabres tanked last year....then they were so pissed when they didnt get the #1 and had to go #2 instead.

Well he's a 1 time olympian, but I agree he'd be a great mentor. However, if he's going to walk then you get what you can.

Hockey players usually give it their all. Lets just say JB is saying all the right things, but doing very little to help his team that needs a lot of help. There are a lot of different things he could at least try. Coincidence , I don't think so.

Is the team ( players) tanking? Not at all.

Is JB tanking? I doubt you would ever hear any GM ever say yes. Is he doing all he can to help the club? Absolutely not.

He pretty much only wanted to play in Vancouver. Then again, it was his home province and they were a contender. However, that was over 5 years ago and things change.

Maybe it isn't as much fun playing at home when you face the prospect of losing seasons for awhile. Perhaps, he'd like to win a cup or at least contend for one. That pretty much takes the western canadian teams off of his list......

If this was the case then he is doing what you've been advocating for a while now. Come to think about it he is pretty much only making Vantelian type moves, that's how he drove off nucker. .....
Wait a minute! !!

Vantel, are you actually Jim Benning?

Tryamkin wont come over to play in utica, he;s already stated that. He has to make the nhl or hes staying in russia.

the pressure is on the canucks to insert him here or very well lose their prospect. I cant recall how high he was drafted now but I dont want to lose him. Every poster here would be blasting JB if that happened too. Enough whining here already so I hope he's here.

- SMBDragon

Drafted 66th overall. And I have never seen any literature quoting he won't play in Utica. Source? I've heard the opposite, he wants to join Utica at the conclusion of the KHL season

At the start of the season i did not want to see Hamhuis moved, saw his skills, mentorship, leadership as valuable (especially if he could be resigned for a hometown discount).

At this stage, i'd be ok with moving him to a contender (like we did with Bieksa), but also quiet comfortable keeping him still.

Edmonton, or back to Nsh seem like logical options if we were to move him.

He represented Canada plenty of times (just not that often on the Olympic squad, which was/is pretty chock full of talent tbh).
