That's where Tallon being a better manager is key, he's traded for Luongo and added veteran "D" like Mitchell, Brian Campbell and Jovo a few years ago.

The Oilers were deathly afraid of trading anyone to upgrade, they wanted to hand the keys solely to the kids.

I understand what you're saying, I'd love for them to pick an impact dman in the top five, but only if he's rated top five.

are you seriously that nitpicky to correct me at a difference of an inch and two pounds?? BTW, I know exactly how tall and heavy he is, I rounded up to see if you would actually use that as a defense (and you did!!! thats shameful) trust me it doesn't strengthen your point - my argument is that he has no problem handling himself in the league given his size and he's proven it so don't throw back your claim of him being a winger for life (you don't know that) and we're also not talking about defensive awareness (although he is one of the only players on the team at a 0+/- which is impressive given the rest of his team.) By all means humor me more!!!

From last blog
Hmm. .. I guess that you can learn something new every day.
Today I learned that a foot is 11 inches, who would have thought. .....

On Drouin:

My sources tell me that Toronto, St. Louis, Montreal and both the New York Islanders and Rangers have expressed deep interest, yet the dark horse teams that should not be forgotten include Nashville, Dallas and Anaheim. I am also hearing from special insides that Chicago, Philly, New Jersey and even Colorado may be in the mix. More to come on the rumours from Edmonton and Ottawa who show that they will be players in this deal while Detroit, Winnipeg and Carolina have made calls. Do not forget Pittsburg or San Jose I am getting a tweet at this very moment that Washington and Minnesota are now a solid contenders. Meanwhile Calgary and Los Angles have been putting together packages while Florida and Calgary are working behind the scenes as well as Buffalo and Boston... and Phoenix.

BREAKING: Tampa Bay may have mended fences and are keeping him.

More to come on why Vancouver is #@&!ed and has no chance.... which may be the best thing.

More to come.

Never did I say that you take ALL D and goalies all the time but at one point you have to have balance on the club. BPA time and time and time again does not accomplish that long term.
- LordHumungous

I meant if you are the Oilers. Have like 7 top 10 picks all forwards. Need to balance it out some how. But in genreal no I wouldnt ever consider that

Just thought of something. Do you think the Swedens, Finlands, Russians etc. are looking better and better these days at the Jrs is perhaps most of their kids play in mens leagues where as in Canada they play in Jr leagues? Do you think if players could go directly to the AHL after being drafted that the Canadian teams would look any better? With the Americans they play in College and USHL where the players are also older?

Opinions??

It's real easy, trade some top end wingers for proven defenseman. Asset management...always take BPA. If it isn't a fit for your club you can move him to fill a need. Oilers never got this point

The Oilers, for the longest time, looked like they were afraid to lose a trade. Even if they would have lost a trade where they may have given up a top winger for what they thought was a top pairing but is more a second pairing dman, they might be further along...

I would love a player like Hall on my team but Edmonton really needs a top dman... would Nashville do a Hall for Jones trade, would Edmonton? What asset is more valuable, top pairing dman or first line winger?

Edm - Jones
Nash - Johansen
CBJ - Nuge

could work but I think CBJ might be dead set on a Dman

He was giving lessons on how to ride one of those new scooter things and the refs deemed him a danger to all of us

Glad they scored, I thought they were jobbed on those 2 penalties in a tie game with 6 minutes left.

Hometown refs?

I was in the Leafs thread... They were telling me how much they enjoyed watching the Canucks lose in the finals. I told them I was happy they enjoyed watching my team in the finals, I haven't had that opportunity with their team. Might have said something about Marner and the Spengler Cup too...

I thought they were bad penalties, especially the first one, let them play.

They kind of made up for it to Russia by giving their captain a misconduct instead of a minor. Russia would have been killing a penalty for the last two minutes...
