Top 3 pick that is stuck on a very deep organization...

seems prime for the picking IMO...

- Stripes77

yea.... he is stuck behind stamkos, Palat, TJ, Nameestinikov, Kucherov, Killorn, and even Brown/Callahan/Filppula...

Fasching's hands for a big boy are remarkable.

However if his skating doesn't transition to the pro game we have a young Matt Moulson who can't keep up just a bigger version

- Stripes77

I'd be OK with that at the rookie ELC pay grade

I could very well be wrong on this, but I believe Pysyk and McCabe, combined with Ristolainen, comprise 3 of our 4 top four D going forward.

Getting one more, as you said, along with hoping that one or more of Guhle, Martin, Florentino make a bottom pairing impact could set the team up for the future very well.

- kingcong39

I see Guhle and Pysyk as the 3/4

an impact d man is needed still for risto, the biggest piece that we need

which of course makes mccabe a tradeable asset for drouin

flip side is in a few years gus will probably be making close to 5 per

is that a good use of cap space?

- homiedclown

Depends on his scoring as the 3rd line shut down center. I don't think it is as important as others do. If he is our top PK guy and he faces every other team's top line and we are poopty defensively... inflation int he NHL... I don't have a problem with that at all.

Oh do I have stories about that guy...when I first started working the prospect scrimmages he was the biggest d bag on the planet.

Kevyn Adams was his "coach" for the game and he was telling us stripes that nobody likes the guy and he has all the tools just a poop for brains with a bad attitude.

He keeps playing this well on Eichel's wing that may become his position. I still have hopes for Larsson as our 3C, he's looked good when put at centre.
- Sabresfan-365

It is amazing how different he looks at center compared to the wing. The difference is unreal.

Do it and push for Yandle in FA...depending on where they are drafting Chycuryn or however you freaking spell his name would be a real option

I love Drouin... but if Colorado does fall off and they really do trade all of their assets this year... I would be more than happy to trade our assets for the likes of Duchene/Landeskog before Drouin. proven vs potential.

He is rated as the #1 dman on the board... goes #2 or 3 in most mocks that I see.

That was the PG version...

During warmups whenever he was taking a wrister on net someone would always fire one a little close for comfort, even prospects who weren't even signed didn't like the guy and was letting him know about it

Ekman-Larsson?

Brodie?

Shattenkirk?

I think I want a younger version with more upside then Yandle

Yeah, but its better than going home empty handed...

They were the best team in the tournament that couldn't produce when they needed too.

But it's better to win the Bronze than lose the gold IMO

If it were up to me which direction I would take, whether that would be a top 5 pick to get a winger in the 2016 draft or trading McCabe for Drouin, I would take the draft approach every single time.

Ekman-Larsson would cost skunk plus...

without giving up assets is my train of thought draft the big Canadian this year if they are in position for it if they can pull off a Drouin deal

Target the team that needs to rebuild and doesn't have a 1st rounder.

The problem I have with adding too many guys on D or top 6 through UFA is that most of them are just plugs until you can get your own guy in there. There is a reason why they are UFAs... either they are over the hill or inflated salaries are making it hard to manage your young up and comers coming off of ELCs.

With that in mind... on D...

Goligoski, Boyle, Nikitin, hamhuis, Quincey, Coburn, L. Schenn, Gunnarsson, Grossman, Medvedev, Yandle, Demers, Clitsome, Bartowski are what will be out there in 2016.

It's the "frustrating" part about short tournaments. Play that Russia game 10 times, and the US probably wins 6 or 7.

On the bright side, I believe Canada finished 6th, which means the US is in their pool again...which is in Toronto.

With the bronze, Team USA has earned a medal in four of the last seven WJC tournaments.
