What I hear is
They made these trades, why aren't we winning the Presidents Trophy yet...JC t has been 39 games...where is all the hardware?
Unbelievably ridiculous expectations. The rebuild just started folks...hello, is this thing on?

- IonSabres

Depends on what you mean by that. If you mean this is the first season in a while where we actually want the team to win then yes i agree. But the actual process itself begain when we moved pominville.

Why is there no middle ground between Presidents Trophy and 29th place?

"Middle ground is not excellence and is therefore unacceptable. It's so frustrating for people not to expect more"

What is middle ground to you...20th place...what, 4 or 5 points more?
C'mon man, ithas been only 39 games into the rebuild....tear down was the last 2 years. Colorado went from the bottom, to the top (relatively speaking) ... And how's that working for them?
Best thing that can happen is acquiring these assets, and this year finishing with a top 5 draft pick to get a mother asset or two that can play.
Why do you want to rush to 9th place, outside the playoffs and gain what exactly?
Or 8th and lose in the 1st round? Mbeen there, done that for way too many years under Sitting on my hands, Darcy ( Oh, ownership tied my hands, let me show you..Ville Lameo)

Except neither if us said Presidents Trophy. We said struggling at the part we spent an off season fixing and being "watchable" wasn't enough

Then it's fair to say I expect MORE than excellence from this team and excellence is unacceptable to me. In the next year or two as permitted by league established transaction Windows.

Well actually going from unwatchable to watchable is a improvement.

We all knew this team had some holes and those holes have probably cost us at least 6 to 8 points, I like how our goalies have played for the most part but I can count 4 or 5 games where they let in a very questionable goal that cost us at least a point. Do I wish the results were better, yes but I also understand where this team is right now and where it is going and I like where we are going.

I did expect bumps in the road.

What I didn't expect is for Eichel, Ristolainen, Reinhart, all to be playing at a high leveel and this team to still be struggling, mainly because the veteran aquisitions. This tells me that it's a poorly constructed roster right now.

I fail to grant 25 year olds a pass in reference to learning a new "system" when 19 year olds are grasping it and performing

I must admit, I do like your last point.
Although, I'm ok with Gionta sucking since his contract is relatively short.
Moulson's concerns me.
I have some faith that Ennis will find his game and Kane will come around.
If Larsons develops into a lockdown 3C I'm ok with that too.
Girgensons now needs to find his scoring touch being on a line with Eichel.
If those 4 turnaround as I hope, this team will begin to win the close games...still more work to be done...but steps in the right direction.
I see the glass as half full.

Carle...ugh for 2 more years after this season.

Only way you can do that and add via FA is if you can move Moulsons contract.

Lehner is the only trade Murray has made for potential. If Drouin requires that we take on a bad contract, I'd pass and save the money for FAs. We can get potential at the draft.

I don't think it'd be a smart move. We need 2 guys who can play the right side who shoot right. Drouin is neither. And the price would be way out of whack. Especially since he's done precisely Richard and squat at the NHL level. I was ok-ish with the Kane deal because he has shown the ability to score 30 goals. You're going to "overpay" for that every time. But a 3rd overall from 2 years ago is going to command a hefty price. One that doesn't make sense to pay given the team needs at this moment.

I'm not making fun of you Kaiser. At all. I'm just replying to the Drouin thing and felt like adding this little bit.

I'm all in for Koekkoek. I drafted him in NHL 14 and he was a beast for my team. I remember back in the day when my team consisted of Konstantin Koltsov, Rico Fata, and Maxim Afinogenov. They wreaked havoc on the NHL. That's how this works right?

Wouldn't be surprised to see a return similar to Turris (roster player and 2nd round pick).

Also agree with others that taking a salary from them my also help a team get a deal done.
