At least she's a smart one that doesn't give guys like that a second chance ..

And no I'm not hating on Kane this should go for every guy

- gerbe75pts

i don't know all the details but I am quite certain this isn't the first, or second time.

on one hand I think it's lack of talent

but then I look at the roster, and really think it's the system holding the team back

- homiedclown

Agreed. The coach definitely needs to develop a system to work with what he's got.
Otherwise, its square pegs, round holes.
And some nights it works. Unfortunately, its not even 50% of the time right now.

I agree, but he's already had at least his second chance. Remember over the summer when he had to buy a billboard at the busiest intersection in LA to say sorry?

This is how we should react to a dirty hit now. I apologize in advance for the poopty music, but the only other video I found was like 20 minutes long.

Solid, the good old days!
Actually, hated this unless it was Sabres vs Bruins or Flyers.
But better than the staged fights of today.

Would really like the league to
1-enforce all the penalties once again
2- enlarge the ice surface a bit ... Maybe half way or 2/3rds of the way to Olympic size
3- reduce size of Goalie equipment
Yes, all three to get the game back to more of the 70's style.

This crap today is boring, no wonder is continues to suffer from attracting new fans

1. It's not going to happen. As was pointed out before, most league execs believe that the "Leave Room for the Holy Spirit" standard set in 2006 left too many defenders vulnerable to headshots from forecheckers.

2. This also isn't going to happen. It would mean arenas would have to take out seats, and reconfigure the ones they already have in the lower bowl. Plus, a bigger ice surface won't do that much. Ray Ferraro addressed this one by saying, while the ice is bigger, the game is played and won between the hashmarks, which are no wider apart than on NHL sized ice. If you defend it right, the extra ice outside the hashmarks is useless ice. The 2010 Olympics showed that great hockey can still be played on NHL sized ice.

3 The goaltender equipment might be possible, but you would have to convince the Players Union goaltenders' safety won't be jeopardized. It sounds laughable, but you can't make any equipment change without the Union signing off on it, and I have a feeling goaltenders will fight this pretty heavily.

The game will never go back to 70s style. For one, there were fewer teams. That meant fewer roster spots available. In the 70s, you had a lot of great players on one team, which made it as exciting as it was. Now, you have 30 teams and a salary cap. I don't want to say the talent is diluted, because there are a lot of very good players in the league. However, there aren't that many great ones, and they're spread out all over the place. The only way you would get 70s style hockey again is if you got NBA style "Super Teams" (see the Miami Heat and the Houston Rockets of 2010-2014), and the current financial structure of the league simply does not allow that.

CHIP will head back to a big University gig. I think he has realized he can't man handle professionals the way he did college kids.

That article is such a steaming pile. If the business were crumbling and they were bleeding money, then I would say they are in over their heads. But the business are stable as ever, growing, heading in the right direction and fans are mostly happy with that. He's the same guy who slams UB sports for trying to get bigger and better. He thinks they should go down to D2 football(fcs) so they can beat up on smaller schools and make the FCS playoffs.

Bucky is an idiot. He's being a pouty little baby because he wants to win now so he can have bragging right for accomplishments that aren't his like his colleagues in Boston.

Not to discount what you say, as I agree with your representation of their position on the matters.
I also know it is and has been for awhile outside the top 4 sports here in the US and now also being overrun by soccer, to secure 6th place ... Give them 20 / 30 more years and they can likely be found outside 7th.

As for their argument in number 1 ... Isn't that circular logic....head hits are illegal by virtue of rules in-place...enforce those and ... Even the moronic NHL brass can figure it out the ending of that argument...or not....after all it is the NHL.

My favourite part was where he said this team was close to competing post vanek trade, only a few players away.. "the right players".

not sure if anybody pointed this out, but an nhl rink is 200x85, an olympic rink is 200x100. seems a lot bigger, no?

clearly im as bad as bucky

I would respect what he had to say if he had stuck by it all this time. But he literally wrote the exact opposite article a few years ago.

You can question the decisions made during the rebuild, but questioning the team going through rebuilding itself is incredibly short-sighted.
