Not that we'd be able to score on it but the NHL is just as bad as the NFL in terms of giving "stars" special treatment. Ovi just drilled Gorges from behind. If that's the other way around Gorges gets a game misconduct..
- bluengold12

Yep, Ovi somehow continually gets away with it. Remember when he put Briere through the open door at the bench and if I remember correctly he escaped supplemental discipline. I'm not entirely sure. But in any event it wasn't a punishment to fit the crime.

Where is the camera in the net? Did they get rid of those?

The only way that could have been called a good goal is if you could see the puck cross the line before ennis barreled into holtby. Yea he did push the puck/holtby back with his stick but also followed right through with his body.

Really? He pushed the puck in the net and the goalie went in with momentum. Should be a goal
- bluengold12

Im pretty sure there's a rule against that. And Im guessing it was more the goalie being pushed in and the puck going with him.

You can't push the goalie into the net with the puck. That's always been a rule. Even if you hit the puck first. You're impeding the goalies opportunity to make a save. It's a bang bang play, but it's the rule.

Granted, I'm watching on my phone, but none of the replays I saw showed the puck go in independent of Holtby sliding into the net with it. You cannot score by pushing the goalie into the net with the puck underneath him, even if it is with your stick.

If the replay showed Ennis jam his stick in there and then we saw the puck slide into the net (not Holtby and the puck going in together), it may well have counted. But that's not what happened.

*EDIT* Late.

It's more for when the goalie has his leg against the post and the puck is in front of the pad and the opposing player technically pushes the puck over the line, but by doing so he also pushes the goalie across the line. But the principle stands.

It's also for when the puck is under the goalie and he gets pushed into the net taking the puck with him.

Not a chance. You can't push the goalie in the net like that.

I wasn't really big on Holtby. I thought he was a Cam Talbot where he benefitted from being on an excellent team, but he looks damn good.

Holtby is a beast. The sabres played well other than a few costly mistakes, and the PP being ice cold.

Looking forward to the rematch wednesday.

I know, I was quoting myself, just expanding and making it easier to understand why it was no goal.

Caps got away with a lot of penalties as well... But Sabres NEED TO change their PP approach and fast.

They played well against the hottest team in the league . You really need to get some puck luck when Holtby is in net.

Ovi and co got away with at least three obvious penalties and our power play was atrocious but their goalie played well and they took advantage on the two bad giveaways we gave them so I guess... To be honest reminded me more of a vintage Miller type game where he stole the show and we got lucky on the two give away's we got that game to win.

they got to start stringing more than one pass together.
And, the pass back to the point so the D-man can shoot it in to someone's skates is getting boring.

He has not dominated yet the way he should be for all the hype. Canada - Sweden New years eve is the next big game. .

Won't happen. Now that the Sabres are out of coming in last every year the team to come in last this year (Could very well be Edmonton) will win the lottery...
