I remember when many Oilers fans were saying Kassian shouldn't be in the NHL. Now many oiler fans are celebrating that he is an Oiler and saying it's good. - iknowbest
The team freed up a roster spot for an actual prospect (Eetu Laurikainen) in the AHL, allowed a class act like Scrivens a chance to rediscover his game, and picked up a guy who brings an element the team SORELY lacks who could actually be an NHL player for them. All with no risk whatsoever.
No one's celebrating, you sh!theel. |

Don't get me wrong, I liked Scrivens. Classy guy.
But, where exactly does class get NHL teams? Just think about it.
Chicago is one of the best teams in the league, they have Kane.
Boston is a solid team, they have so many "classless" players (Marchand).
The fact of the matter is, we haven't had an agitator since Perron. Kassian can still be something, not what he should've been, but he can score, hit and actually play hockey. |

As long as you don't let him drive the team bus, everything should be OK. |

Hey Matt I enjoy your blogs but you need to remember MacT was forgiving by the Oil and give him a chance for something he did that was way more horrific then what ever Kassian have done so far, so as much I don't like Kassian I will wait and see how this work out,it could be good or simple just a minor trade by PC. |

No mention of the other top players on those teams. All of Bergeron, Toews, Krejci, Eriksson, Hossa, Chara (with the odd exception), Keith (see Chara), Seabrook, Hjalmarsson, and Seidenberg are class acts who perpetuate an atmosphere of professionalism, consistency, and accountability within a locker room. Certainly having a chaotic element like Marchand, Shaw, and Byfuglien is beneficial, but it's often the chaotic players that are chaotic personalities.
A lack of class acts like that are among the many reasons why the Oilers have sucked so bad. Class isn't just not being a dirty player; it's bringing those attitudes to a locker room and having the ability to infect others with those attitudes. Things like that are what people mean by a "winning culture". |

Literal question here, is Kassian actually a Richard in the locker room? I have no clue.
I really hope both players can turn it around. If not I guess it's a no loss trade. Let's hope PC can trade for a Dman in Nashville. |
