I could care less for what he did to Gagner. I couod care less that he is classless. But his addiction problems are serious and I am glad to see you speak out against him for that. I think too many overlook how devastating this could be to have someone like that in our lineup.

I think you fail to realize how many guys in the NHL are probably hitting the slopes on a regular basis. Kassian was just dumb about it and got caught. Hell Stoll has been at it for years and that doesn't seem to matter. He still gets talked about for having leadership abilities.

As much as he is a punk, I kinda like this. If he plays, it will be to protect the talent, which is plentiful on the Oilers. They can give up a roster spot since they have high end talent. This reminds me of the old days when the goons were around and I do miss those days.

If kassian helps us win even 1 game at the nhl level, (something Scrivens was never going to again) we won the trade

It's low risk for a guy who has a skill set that can help us.
Long shot that he turns it around and gets back to that effective player for sure.
Still worth it since we can let him walk at the end of the season

Best case, he can actually be effective offensively too. On a skilled line.
And has that douchiness where teams hate and get distracted by him.

Does it work out? probably not. Still don't mind the deal.
This whole narrative of; "oh no what if eberle turns bad because of kassians influence " is silly imo. All these 20 something millionaire celebrities do blow and get fuked up. All the time.

Oilers trade $2.3m AHL backup goaltender for a large RW with skill who happens to be brain dead. It has been way too long since the Oilers have had a good psycho in the lineup and they badly need the size upgrade.

If he gets top 9 minutes and scores 10-15 this is an excellent trade. If he falls off the wagon and shows up naked to the rink with an empty handle of bourbon and blow caked to his face then at least Scrivens is no longer on the books.

Kassian is certainly a DBag but Raffi Torres is/was by far the biggest scumbag in the NHL. And Matt Cooke was right up there with him.
