I believe I said GOAL SCORING 5x5 and it is first line.

“Where Kassian fares much better is in his goal scoring rate. The physical 24-year-old forward scores goals at a first-line rate at 5-on-5. Since the lockout, in fact, he’s scored goals at a rate comparable to the likes of Blake Wheeler, Jordan Eberle and Evander Kane.”

Look it up and then use cock in mouth dialogue.

Just put me on record as saying Kassian will produce enough for everyone to forget the circumstances in how we acquired him.

He's got he fists of Gazdic and the potential of Lander.....but seriously, he will earn another contract.

you do realize there there is a chance he doesn't even play a single game with the Oilers. If the team gets healthy, he would have to take someones spot. He could easily sit in the AHL all season

I think he plays less than ten in Bakers'.

Chi is on record as wanting him when he was GM of Boston. TMac and Chia like a heavy team. Gazdic has held a semi-regular spot all year. All signs point to him playing and soon.

Who does he need to outproduce in a healthy lineup? Gazdic, JJ, Korps, Iiro....I think the jobs his.

Then who are you exposing to waivers to get him? Lander? Hendricks? Purcell?

With a healthy roster, they would have to sit more than 1 big contract and potentially send 1 down to the AHL.

Pouliot McDavid Yakupov
Hall Nuge Eberle
Korpikoski Draisaitl Purcell
Hendricks Lander Letestu
Klinkhammer

Where in that Bottom 6 is Kassian going to fit in a healthy line up? So you are taking a good contract to sit it the press box or you are exposing someone to waivers to make room for him.

Just saying there is a chance he doesn't even see NHL ice, unless there is more injury troubles,

Korpikoski, Letestu, Lander, Hendricks are your team leaders in PK time for forwards. Nuge is next on that list and he isn't even close to those guys in terms of total time

Kassian does not kill penalties, he has 44 seconds of PK last season, 27 seconds the year before that. So hes not taking any of those guys rolls

so really the only way he sees ice time with a healthy line up is he takes Purcell's spot, either they decide to put his 4m in the press box or they trade him

I think we should assume there will be injury troubles. Especially this year. I also believe everyone who's last name starts with a K is in jeopardy, not to mention the trade deadline where they might trade Purcell.

I'll say Kassian is officially a regular after the deadline, but if he sticks before I wouldnt be surprized. There were more talented players than JJ and he was already called up just for sheer size.

If you have to call up Kassian to be a regular by then, just cancel the season since the last half push to try and sneak into the playoffs is done.

If the team is 80% healthy, he doesn't see icetime.

PK time is misleading...The only reason more talented players aren't on a PK is because they can't play Hall or Nuge 30min a game. Korpikowski and Lander are rotten meat you throw to the wolves to distract them from the sheep. Bad analogy, but the PK will have absolutely zero factor in Kassian sticking or not.

Can zack play the left side as a right handed shot?

Hall, Leon, purcell
Poo, Connor, yaks
Kassian, nuge, ebs
Hendricks, lander, letestu

Plus if he works out- makes it abit easier to move one of ebs/yaks on the right side and replace them - putting korp/pakarinen back in the lineup in a checking/pk role

Are you sure your name isn't Oil Runs Derp? Jesus what kind of garbage statement is that?

Bergeron, Marchand, Kopitar, ROR, Silfverberg, Kesler, Ladd, Little, Henrique, Soderberg, could go on longer but all these guys see major PK time (tops in the league), 5v5 Top line minutes, and PP time.

No thats not the reason why you put "garbage guys" on the PK. They are good at their role and do it better than your Top 6 forwards, thats why

Only way I see him on the team is if he takes Purcells spot on the RW depth chart. Other than that, I don't see him getting a sniff of the big club with a healthy line up

Are you sure your name isnt Strawman?

Im saying Lander and Corpse are barely NHL'ers and you're bringing up Bergeron?

RNH is the best defensive forward on the team. He's been facing the heavy lifting since he was 19. If they could afford him to play more PK they would. Lack of depth matters. Its a myth that Edmonton has this high octane forward corps. Lennart Petrell was an often used PK'er just a few seasons ago. PK does not justify employment.
