can say that about several current flyers
- rinaldo

Every team can say that about players they have.

I just hope with Hextall he sees a new vision. So far I like what he has done with the drafting and trying to position this team for the future. It's frustrating but it might be worth it.

they just better hope more of the dman pan out then don't pan out. if not then would be a huge step back.

would like to see someone on O and D come from out of the blue and be a key contributor.

They missed MDZ last night.
He plays a lot of tough minutes and for the most part gets it done, even if his scoring is down a bit.

The rest of the D and Giroux had a rough game.

Ducks were the better team last night.

Agree.

I thought Raffl had an ok game. Brayden seemed to disappear again. I mean the team last night showed a lot of flaws that come up when you don't have enough talent. But these games happen to middle of the pack teams.

Christmas break are not helpful when traveling but still disappointment by not getting one point. For two points too many players where just too slow

Do me a favor, and take a look at the scoring stats for centers last year, and see how many 2nd line centers in the league had 50 points. Couturier, even with the poor offensive start this season, is on pace for 40 points currently. If his increase in scoring keeps going, he could put up a 50 point season.
- MJL

2nd line...4th line...immaterial. Couts had 37 points last year and was 61st among centers. I imagine this season will be about the same.

Agreed, Del Zotto, on this squad, is the #1 Dman. I think that has a lot to do with his offensive numbers being down too. He's playing a lot of hard minutes both at ES and on the PK and that has to be wearing on him. Del Zotto is a fine 2nd pair guy, but asking him to be your #1 is just asking too much.

The team should have overcome the adversity, but the refs blew the call giving Anaheim the pp after perry purposefully ran into mase and started the fracas. He should have gotten a double minor for roughing and even up at least. He wasn't really touched and went into the net and mase hard on purpose.

Totally agree.

I think they have done well with Provorov and Sanheim. Morin is a wild card because he is raw and big men take longer. ALso have Wilcox and Friedman in college. And Myers they signed seems to be a surprise.

I think Konecny has that it factor in him. I think Fazleev and Abule-kubel could become good role players. I think Leier can take over the Matt Read role.

I would like to see them get more 1st rounders in the next draft and try to get an impact forward. I like Max Jones and I think he could be around where Philadelphia drafts.

It's a good sign that this wjc has tons of flyers picks in it, and top ones. You have to think provy, sanheim konecny and morin will pan out over time .

I don't really see Morin as a question mark, I just think that huge kids like him take some time to grow into their size and develop. Worse case, I think he'll be a solid 2nd pair shutdown guy who skates on the top PK pairing. Sanheim has unreal potential, but he clearly does have some flaws in his game, he could end up a #1 or a 4/5, it's just too early to tell. Provorov, OTOH, just thinks the game so damned well. Add that to his physical skills and I think there is no way he is anything less than a #2, and he could be a #1.

No matter what, once you add Ghost into the mix, I think the D will be fine for years to come. Next, they need to add more high end talent up front. Konecny looks like a fine player, and Lindblom and Aube-Kubel both have at least a shot at being top 6 forwards, but they need more. Hopefully they can add to the pool in the 1st round of the 2016 draft.

Man, 17-18 and beyond can't come soon enough!

Inferior team unable to play a full 60 minutes against a better team that showed up in the third. Not sure what is up with mason, bad third goal but i thought luke schenn should have made an effort to impede perry. I still believe in mason though up until this season he was our best player on a nightly basis, i think this is just an offseason for him.

Thoughts on medvedev, I'm really starting to think maybe the guy oughta try playing wing, anyone care to discuss? [/img]

We do not know exactly what say Holmgren has, but the evidence is clear it is minimal. The team management strategy has done a complete 180 since Hextall took over (albiet somewhat due to salary cap contraints). If Holmer still had a say, we would have been buying at the TDL and trying to sign UFAs to fill holes
- YuenglingJagr

Holmgren is the GM who started this youth movement. Holmgren turned over the reigns of the GM role to Hextall, so he's not going to be hands on and interfere, or he may as well just have stayed on as GM. I'm sure that Holmgren is still involved in the hockey side somewhat in an advisory capacity. He still attends games and has gone on scouting trips.

See how the team responds in San Jose. Bad game across the board...turnovers, weak D, soft goal, etc.

Do we know whether Streit traveled with the team on this trip?

One guy that I am picking for my sleeper player is Martel for the phantoms. Something about him when he plays and man he can fly. Not sure he will be Tyler Johnson but I think there is something there.

It's not immaterial at all. I believe that if Couturier was put in better roles, and had the right players around him, he could be a 50 point player. He has 6 points in the last 5 games playing with Voracek. If that line stays together, I think we'll get a better idea.

most seem to think sanheim is this lock and morin the wildcard/potential bust. I myself am not so sure.

no reason to believe they won but I hope they are patient with all of them especially morin. let him earn his bones in the ahl.

also think it is inevitable one of the prospect dman get moved for a forward.

as far as fazleev and ak, time will tell. I wont right them in as locks but nice to have them then not. all 3 of those dman you mentioned (myers, freidman, wilcox)intrigue me a lot.

This team could really use brayden coburn this year. That was a big hole they opened up, he compliments guys like mdz and ghost very well imo.
