It's completely rational. If a company hires 3 ppl from the same channel and they dont get the job done it's safe to say they might wanna change their hiring criteria. If you're gonna give hextall credit for being an asst gm in la then he deserves to wear some blame for his job as asst gm here.

What else did he also do? He signed Bryzgalov to a major deal. Went after Weber. Made trades to try and replace Pronger. While Holmgren did acquire youth, he also tried to use trades and free agency, to bolster the team. Since Hextall took over as GM, there has been a clear shift in strategy in running hockey operations. Anyone thinking Hextall is just another in the good ole boy network, isn't paying attention.

Holmgren is not a figure head. He is the Team President. He took over for Peter Luuko, who was Holmgren's boss. Holmgren absolutely is Hextall's boss. That doesn't mean that Holmgren is running hockey operations, and is keeping Hextall under his thumb. Hextall has the same green light that Holmgren had as GM. Snider didn't make the move, to still have Holmgren calling the shots.

I get it, to an extent. I was wary of Hextall & the Ol Boys aspects, but I kept as open a mind as I could. Hextall has delivered. He said they were going to build through the draft, develop prospects and not try to chase the brass ring at the expense of future assets. I was down with that and hoped it would be the case.

And it is. Hextall has done what he's said he'd do. He's building a great system. He's hanging onto picks. He's filling minor roles with cheaper free agents on short deals. He knew it wasn't going to be built in a day.

Drawing up plays for Stauskas when he's been terrible all game was pretty stupid. Should have put the ball in Ish hands on every possession down the stretch.

Noel not showing at all on the Hayward 3 was pretty bad.

Ish using the entire clock for an iso when the team is behind by 2 wasn't smart either.

I said all season they never should have let Ish go. He's really the perfect piece for this team. He will make them competitive without making them too good. They've benefitted from Okafor's absence as well. They're better when he's not on the floor.
