Look when they can start winning some playoff series I'll be the first one to congratulate them.
- JoeRussomanno

I'm not saying don't complain. But you're at the point where all you're doing is being ridiculous. It's complaining for the sake of complaining.

Shouldn't you say that about Keith Richards?

I figured both Lemmy & Keith came from Mars and were invulnerable to any Earthly damage

That's it? All you want is to win playoff series? As a franchise, the Flyers have been doing that for years. I personally want them to win the cup.

No when a team in this big of a market goes from two wins away from a cup to bottom feeders inside of 5 years, complaints are coming. I'm not really complaining just discussing why anyone would complain about homer not getting fired and yet another former flyer is gm.

The fact that he made it to 70 was a miracle.

For sure. At this point, I'm pretty sure that Ozzy and Keith Richards are immortal...or cyborgs.

Oh, so a former Flyer being hired is why you complain? At least it's something rational, and not because he has brown hair.

Yes, the fall from contention to draft lottery was quick, and was hastened by several incidents that were completely out of anyone's control, the biggest one being Pronger's career ending injury. That led to some poor decisions.

The guy that made those decisions was replaced by a guy who won a Stanley Cup as an assistant GM, who has a good plan and has already started to implement it as we speak. We have known from the start of Hextall's regime that while they wanted to remain competitive, they were focused on the long term goal of a Stanley Cup. Not a quick, unsustainable last gasp effort at winning a few playoff rounds.

If Hextall came in and didn't have a plan, or made a series of moves that lacked sense, I'd complain, too. But he hasn't. I don't like the on ice results of the Hartnell trade, but in the long run there's logic behind it. I'm not crazy about Nick Schultz being re-signed, but it is what it is. Far better to be upset by a guy on a 2 year cap hit for less than $3mm than some of the deals Holmgren saddled him with.

And, yes, fine, blame Holmgren for the Lecavalier & MacDonald deals. But don't lay them on the current GM. He's been trying to correct the situation almost since he was hired.

It's completely rational. If a company hires 3 ppl from the same channel and they dont get the job done it's safe to say they might wanna change their hiring criteria. If you're gonna give hextall credit for being an asst gm in la then he deserves to wear some blame for his job as asst gm here.

Is it really a new plan tho? Didn't homer go to great lengths saying how they needed to get younger build within etc after he moved richards and carter?

He was assistant GM for one year here, Holmgren's final season, before assuming the top job. The only significant move made by the Flyers while he was assistant GM was the MacDonald trade and re-signing. Hextall's response was to try to trade him and then bury him in the AHL.

Hextall left the Flyers while Bob Clarke was GM-a year removed from going to the Eastern Conference Final-and was in LA during the entire process where that team was built from a bad team into a Stanley Cup champion. He isn't from the same channel. His Flyers bonafides were less a factor than his work in building the Kings.

That's all well and good but i think it would sit better with ppl if holmer wasn't promoted to be hextall's boss.

He wasn't promoted to be Hextall's boss. He was kicked upstairs. Happens all the time. He's not really involved in hockey decisions, might do a bit of scouting-which was his strong suit as a manager anyhow-and is a figurehead.

If people actually think he's Hextall's boss and then the issue isn't with the Flyers, it's with them for being too dumb to realize Hexy's in charge following the plan he laid out when he got hired and Homer's got as much power a Fred the security guard.

Sorry, I'm done.

I'm fine with valid, or even semi-valid complaints. But complaining just to complain without any real logic behind it...

That really doesn't answer the question. Part of the reason why Holmgren stepped down, was because they knew that Hextall would be in demand around the league, and there was a chance they would lose him to another team.

Who would've been your first choice?
