Makes sense. I wasn't really entertaining the rumour as realistic for Dougie or gio, or even Bennett.
Just trying to gauge value in any proposal for ryjo.

And yeah, be silly to trade Bennett, but why does cbj trade ryjo for less than him in return?
And they certainly don't want backlund caliber in return for a young bonafide 1c. And I don't think add ins change that.

Ryan Johansson and Scott Hartnell to Montreal for Mike McCarron, Jarred Tinordi, Lars Eller, Zach Fucali, Zack Kassian and Alexei Emelin.... let's hear everyone's take on that blockbuster.

It's funny how you're buying any negativity on ryjo for purposes of this discussion, but they were all just bs rumours when the same was said about why Hamilton left Boston. It's all just talk. Torts was gonna bench Murray too. He likes plugs who block shots.

6'3-220- seasons of 60+ and 70+ and around that again. And barely 23.

Yeah, backlund'll get it done. Just throw in a 3rd and a prospect

I could see Benning trading Vrbata for a 4/5 AHL D (Tinordi) and a 3rd...

Probably retain salary and give Tinordi a raise and retroactive NTC too

Man, moves like that it's almost like he would be trying to (frank) up a fantasy hockey league like a petty bumhole...

Quantity = quality

As it happens, I think the Habs would be a good fit for ryjo... but it will cost them Galchenyuk and a pick most likely... believe it or not, but 1Cs actually cost

Absolutely. 1c's cost more than a bottom 6'er and a few throw ins??! News to many.

They need a 1c. And imo aren't true contenders until they get it

Galch and a first maybe.

Rumours are they want a defender tho.
Beaulieu (?) is a reasonable starting point.

If they move RyJo they need a centre also... but yeah, the Habs have a couple of pieces that would interest them and they'd need to move at least one of them...

He held out into the season for a bigger contract last year, he's been a healthy scratch this year, Friedman has written a couple times that executives agree there have been some major differences between RJ and the Jackets. The last one may be rumour but the other two are solid. Friedman is usually pretty on the mark but who knows.

Backlund, our 1st this year, Russell and their pick of our many wingers down in Stockton is an offer that shores them up in terms of depth and something to start building on. Who knows that the asking price will reach by the deadline I guess.

Will really depend on what other teams are offering and whether the Jackets really do want to move him this year. They'll definitely get a better price at the draft.

Backlund could handle the minutes and encourage 2-way play throughout a rebuilding roster. The guys has been on the verge of a breakout for so long now; he just needs a team to commit to giving him 1st line minutes all year.

Seguin was traded for Loui Eriksson, Riley Smith, Joe Morrow and Matt Fraser

Sounds like you've heard it before. That's because you want people to discuss trading garbage for two huge impact players.

So one GM makes a bad trade that means another GM has to make the same bad trade since its the precedent...that makes no sense

Plus Eriksson is a three time 70 point scorer who is on pace to do the same again this year... it wasn't a good trade, but none of the folks you suggested had even comparable value, and one (Kassian) has close to negative value right now...

Oh, he's an excellent prospect but if you're trading a guy like RyJo you don't want the best piece of the deal to only have 2 games NHL experience

Backlund isn't better than Dubinsky. Not sure he's better than wennberg either. And he's only 21.

He plays 2c at best on that squad.

End of the day, it's all just guess work, but I don't accept the Russell's or backlund for a young 1c like ryjo.

I ask giordano, Hamilton+ or Bennett +.
And when I get the probable no, I move on to another team

Of course not, but the point is to not use a bad trade as justification for a weak offer.

McCarron - decent prospect
Tinordi - meh, but could be good if given the chance
Eller - average 3rd line C
Fucale - nothing special right now, AHL numbers are gross
Kassian - no value
Emelin - overpaid slow dman

Like people have said, there really isnt a lot of value going back, Habs would get the 2 better players in that deal
