Closest they ever came to the Norris was Mark Howe finishing second a couple of times. Reggie Leach led the league in goals in 75-76, but there was no trophy for that then. The closest they ever came to the Art Ross was in 94-95 when Lindros lost it to Jagr on a tiebreaker (more goals).

The other major awards won by a Flyers:
Hart
72-73 Clarke
74-75 Clarke
75-76 Clarke
94-95 Lindros

Vezina
73-74 Parent
74-75 Parent
84-85 Lindbergh
86-87 Hextall

Smythe
73-74 Parent
74-75 Parent
75-76 Leach
86-87 Hextall

Correct, Barber as well in 73. (frank) you Steve Vickers, you Ranger piece of poop!

Renberg was a finalist in 1993-94, the year he set (still standing) Flyers rookie scoring record.

Howe was 2nd in Norris ballot three times.

Froese and Cechmanek were 2nd in Vezina ballot once apiece, Cechmanek/Esche shared Jennings Trophy in 2002-03.

Yup, both were well deserved though. Leach scored a ridiculous 19 goals in only 16 games and, without Hextall's fantastic play, the Flyers probably don't even win a round in 87

That was the year Martin Brodeur won it.

The year Hextall lost, at least he lost it to a guy who went on to be a Hall of Famer. No shame there, even if Hextall probably should have won.

I really don't understand why Bill Barber lost to another forward, whom he actually outscored during the season.

Politics is why, plain and simple. Between the Rangers shameless lobbying on Vickers behalf and the way the Flyers were viewed by most of the league, there was no way Barber was bringing the team a 2nd major trophy that season. The awards that they did win during the Bullies era were basically no brainers. Clarke was far and away the MVP in the years he won, and Parent was so dominant, as was Leach, the league basically had to reward them.

All you have to do to see it is to look at how long it took Fred Shero to get in the Hall. If he had won 2 Cups and had the same record coaching Boston or New York, he would have been enshrined 20 years ago.

Eh, big deal. Flyers got the ultimate revenge the next two seasons.

That one always puzzled me. Some major-league grudge holders or something else was going on.
