If a forward got hurt, you could waive Manning and bring up Colin MacDonald without having to use LTIR.
- Feanor

Or they could just waive manning in the first place...the point is that i doubt hextall wants to give players away

Waiving Manning won't free up enough cap space to keep Ghost on the team.

And I don't think Manning will get claimed if he is waived.

Looking at the numbers. Ball park the Flyers need to clear about 853K to bring back Streit.

I think he would...and waiving him does clear enough room

Waiving Manning is not enough. 853K is the number they need to clear.

They currently have $4.325M in space. They got a LTIR savings of $4.580M from Streit. Do they need to clear $4.580M or $5.25M?

Wrong way to look at it. The exemption goes away.

They got 4.58 million from LTIR because they were 670k below the cap when they added Streit to LTIR. That just means they can go over by 4.58 until he comes back

Recorded the game and watching now.

Classic Reffing there with that Jake call that led to Shattenkirk's goal. And they missed Parayko's blatant elbow on Umberger

Did you include the 500K retained for Grossmann, or the 329K spent on call ups to this point?

Forwards 41,076,000
Defence 20,722,000
Goaltenders 5,725,000
MacDonald 3,941,0000
Grossmann 500,000
Call ups 329,000

Equals 72,293,000 minus 71,400,000 = 893,000. That's what they have to clear. I mistakenly posted 853K previously

I knew there was a daily cap hit for call ups but I didnt know what it was to date...but macdonald does not have a 4.941 cap hit.

I hate doing cap math with that rule I always end up with the wrong answer due to the fact that they only get part of the contract they are putting there. I always forget the rule on how much they get.

That's not MacDonald's cap hit. That is the cap charge that the Flyers are charged with in salary retention minus the cap charge for when he was called up on the active roster, which is included in the call up total. Those are the numbers.

A player on LTIR counts against the cap the same as any player does. You get an exemption to replace the player. There are no permanent cap savings from placing a player temporarily on LTIR. Once he returns, it's as if nothing happened.
