Stupid Tie Domi... had to go and have a talented son.

Meanwhile we'll end up drafting the son of the guy that fell into the penalty box.

Easily the flyers best defensemen right now
- YuenglingJagr

To me, it hasn't been all that close since the last 25 or so games of last season

Weren't there slight talks of maybe the Caps having interest? Some recruitment from fellow Russian Ovi. He'd be a nice addition for them for playoff depth
- arichardson22

Agreed -- there are a few would-be contenders out there whose bottom pairs would benefit from what the Russian does well

I call him The Russian because "Medvedev" looks weird when I type it and I never spell it right the first time

I'm not too worried, to be honest, because that's what we're talking about right now -- if Morin can develop into a defensively sound partner for Ghost or either Provorov or Sanheim, and can be someone who is capable on the PK, then he is exactly what they need
- AllInForFlyers

Definitely cant hate too much on the pick. It was pretty necessary at the time...but I did think there was a little bit of need over BPA drafted there. You cant predict that the Flyers would go on to draft 3 other strong defensemen. The guy I really wanted was Ristolainen, but figured he wouldnt make it back to 11

I misspell his name frequently. Usually attempt # 4 is the one.

MDZ's an effing player, man. Don't know what the hell he was doing in NY and Nashville, but that dude's a player and far more competitive out there than he gets credit for

That pick, which I did not have a problem with then or now, was never about this year and maybe not even next

That pick was about when they were going to be good, and is something they just didn't have in their system -- a big man who can move and isn't soft

It's going to take some time, but that pick was about when that kid is 22 or 23, and I'm totally OK with that

I know it will take some time. I am not saying the Flyers made a mistake, but Domi's skill was undeniable. The Flyers took what they wanted...I wonder if Hextall would have done the same. Regardless of how valuable they end up being to their teams, Domi will always be the more exciting player to watch

Agree -- I cannot dispute that NHL production, which is what Domi is providing, is a huge positive. The Flyers could certainly use that kind of skill.

Good read Bill,

regarding Mason, I think some Flyer fans get a little skittish when the # 1 has off nights. Lets face it goaltending has been a bit of a sore spot over the past couple of decades.... good sometimes, not so good others...inconsistent . Its been great this year to have Neuvirth play so well and give Mason some time to find the level he played at last year....don't know if he's quite there yet, but last night was great to see he's going in the right direction.

He's scoring at half of last year's pace, but MDZ's ability to eat lot of minutes and play in all situations is invaluable. Hopefully he'll get a few more of those patented left circle snipes as the season goes on.

I think he may lose his spot on PP2 when Streit gets back, but that should only last till the deadline when I think one of Streit or Medvedev gets moved.

I think gudas is outstanding. Especially since he's come back. He has far more tools in his repetoire than I thought. He is a piece to keep going forward imo.

He's picking his spots better for moving up in the play and playing what looks like a different role from last year. At least from what I've observed. The point total thing doesn't upset me all that much. He just looks solid and fluid out there.

I agree. He's impressed me. Guy really gives his heart each shift of the ice and lays on great hits that are clean. He adds some needed grit and has a great impact against the other team. Players know they don't have the space when Gudas is there waiting to lay them out. I'm all for keeping him moving forward. Plus he had a nice offensive rush with Jake last night

I don't always know what to make of him, only because he tends to put himself out of position from time to time to lay the wood on an unsuspecting player. He moves around pretty well and makes a decent first pass out of the defensive zone. As long as he doesn't take dumb penalties and turn into "Blueline Zeke Remaldo", I think Gudas will be fine.

I think there are quite a few teams who would love to have the Flyers' goaltending situation.

Ad far as the defense. I think I'm at the point where I won't miss anyone if they get traded, but won't bang my head against a wall if anyone stays with the exception of Shultz. Obviously with prospects coming, moves are to be made, but hasn't been that much of a train wreck out there as I thought entering the season.

His hockey sense might be a bit below the bar, but that dude plays so freaking hard, I can overlook that 99 percent of the time

Don't love when he looks for the predatory stuff, but he does have ability

Only in the NHL can you be 2 games above .500 and a -18 in goal differential 32 games into the season
