I thought Vancouver was really cheating towards Ghost on the PP last night. You could see, whenever Giroux had the puck on a 5v4, the one forward was leaning towards Ghost a bit (can't really do it on a 5v3). That's something that Ghost will have to work through, but like he said, if they cheat to him, someone else gets more open.

Do goalies get moved at the deadline very often? I can't recall that happening all that much, but I could also be completely wrong.

Yes they do. Mostly as backups though. Last year Neuvirth got traded

I was making a joke about how people have wanted Mason traded, then he gets a shutout

When Luke Schenn & Streit return, Manning should find himself traveling up the Northeast Extension.
- Jsaquella

Absolutely. But I have a feeling one of those two of Schenn and Streit gets moved relatively soon, upon their return

Just a feeling

What do you think is the optimal top 6 when Schenn and Streit are healthy?

I think it would help the offense if the OZ starts Manning has been getting and doing nothing with went to Medvedev or Streit.

- Feanor

Personally, I would go with:
MDZ-Schenn
Streit-Gudas
Ghost-Medvedev
Schultz

Manning to LV. But "hard minutes" yadda yadda yadda.

My Top 6 if they keep them all

MDZ-Gudas
Streit-The Russian
Ghost-Schenn/Schultz

Tough question.

MDZ/Gudas
Streit/Medvedev

... seems pretty natural.

But then the 3rd-pair becomes a problem. They seem to want to groom Ghost for the right-side, considering the kids behind him are all lefties. Schenn is better than Schultz, IMO. Do you move Ghost back to the left side?

Then there's Hak's love-affair w/ Manning to consider...

If they're still right in the middle of the playoff mix, I am not sure they trade anyone before the deadline, unless they slip a bit.

Definitely wouldn't mind seeing Streit out there on PP2, to be honest

Looks strange on paper, but maybe Streit-Ghost could be a thing... give Streit those cheese Manning minutes Feanor was talking about.

Leaves you w/ either Schultz/Med or Med/Luke on D2... for tougher minutes?

I really don't know, lol.

I would go with:

MDZ-Gudas
Schultz-Streit or Streit/LSchenn
Medvedev-Ghost

Medvedev might benefit from playing his strong side while he's still getting used to the pace and small rinks of the NHL. Like you say, Ghost will likely stay on the right side since that's where his long term future will be.

We're in the final days of Schenn. That is what makes it tricky. I can't fathom a scenario where he is re-signed, so at what point do you just cut that cord?

Me, either -- the mix is still off, if/when everybody is healthy, because Schenn isn't a long-term solution

I think they have to trade LSchenn by the deadline, and Medvedev if he's not getting extended. Otherwise they will probably be lost for nothing.

How much would Chicago pay for Medvedev to take Scuderi's spot in the lineup at the deadline? We got two 2nds for Kimmo last year and he hadn't even played a game.

The Russian will absolutely have value to a contender, with the way he moves the puck

There's definitely not an optimal mix to be made out of these parts.

Really glad MDZ/Gudas are playing well, tho.

Yeah, I should have said closer to the deadline. I don't think they rush into a trade immediately. I think they take their time and make a deal near the deadline, unless there's something too good to pass up, like say a 2nd & 4th for Schenn.

Morin was picked between Nichhuskin and Domi. I don't want to put added pressure on the kid... But yeah.

They're going to be a thing when the Flyers are good

MDZ's an effing player, man. Don't know what the hell he was doing in NY and Nashville, but that dude's a player and far more competitive out there than he gets credit for

Yeah, there's no rush. They can demote Laughton or waive Umberger or Gagner if necessary, and roll with 8 D, 12 forwards and Vinny for a while.

Weren't there slight talks of maybe the Caps having interest? Some recruitment from fellow Russian Ovi. He'd be a nice addition for them for playoff depth

I'm not too worried, to be honest, because that's what we're talking about right now -- if Morin can develop into a defensively sound partner for Ghost or either Provorov or Sanheim, and can be someone who is capable on the PK, then he is exactly what they need
