Schenn + for Nishcushkin?
- 2Real

Which Schenn?

I actually liked how Brayden has been playing. If they want D could Streit+ work? Not sure of Dallas cap off the top of my head.

Not sure Schenn is the type of defenseman Dallas is (likely not) looking to trade him for.

They have Klinberg and Demers they traded Dillion who is a physical Dman to the Sharks a few years ago they could use another physical dman

He's been playing well. Loved watching him take it to the net last night

Yeah.

I thought he was going to stuff that in. Him and Couturier both seem to have a new confidence lately.

Gotcha. Although I wonder if that's the case. I know I'd be very reluctant to trade him at this point in his development. He probably won't be another Chara/Pronger-type player, but it's way too early to know. I'm going to guess if the Islanders could go back in time, that's one trade they wouldn't make.

If he hones in that slapshot the sky is the limit really. There is no doubt he will be physical and can move...has a great stick

Can't help but feel this team is on the verge of a downswing. The last couple wins, plus the stars game just leave a lot to be desired. I feel like the next 2-3 weeks could decide their fate. Can they keep up winning 2 out of 3 or will they fall back again.
- Just5

It's not too often that a team will simply be able to impose its will for 60 minutes unless one team simply fails to compete. I thought the Flyers did a nice job last night closing things out in the third period. They didn't have a great start but the goaltending and Giroux stabilized things until they got going.

Toss out the Dallas game, because the deck was severely stacked against them -- as happens to all teams at some point -- even apart from the opponent having the best record in the NHL. Scheduling gets no tougher than being in the final game of a three-in-four, back-to-back in three different cities against the top team in the league that's been home all week and have had two nights of rest to boot. The Flyers didn't help their own cause one iota with all the penalties they took. Despite it all, Neuvirth nearly stole them at least one point and they damn near tied the game with all those good looks at the net on their third period power play. t didn't leave the AAC that night with a feeling that it was a negative direction game for the Flyers.

I sense a great disturbance in the force.

Jk. What are we giving up for Nichhuskin today?

Mason and Neuvirth, since neither one can establish themselves as the better goaltender

If they landed Nichushkin it almost certainly mean Jake has to stick at LW. Simmonds and Nichuskin only play RW and from what I understand Konecny has no experience at LW. So basically either Jake or Nichushkin would have to switch to LW.

Braydon Coburn is 6'5" and I don't think anyone would describe him as physical

He was physical. He wasn't punishing and didn't throw thundering checks, but he was very physical.

Edit: For that matter, aside from the hits on Toews and Kane, Pronger didn't throw many huge hits during his time here (yeah, I could check youtube for clips to show a few, too) but he was considered extremely physical.

Being fair I'm pretty excited seeing Couturier gain some confidence and producing with better wingers on this team. We can all go back and forth over what he is or isn't but what cant be argued is that he a young though experienced great defensive center that it would help the team if he could produce more. Looks like he is doing that right now and I think it is a good thing going forward.

Additionally overall I am pretty happy with the job Hakstol is doing. He has made some rookie coaching choices that maybe didn't make sense but I think he is navigating his first season pretty well and has the the team moving forward. It doesnt hurt that i think this may be Giroux's most complete season to date..G is doing everything right now and I am 100% glad he is our captain.

Finally having a taste with Ghost I can't remember the last time I was this excited about the Flyers future prospects. Hopefully that future starts in earnest next seasons.

I'm also pretty sure Pronger didn't fight here, either.

I think Pronger didn't throw big hits like that because he didn't really need to. In some games I can remember back then, I think forwards were scared of pissing him off.

It's sad that Laughton is only trusted with 4th line garbage time at the moment. Hopefully the GM steps in soon and either demotes him to the AHL to play meaningful minutes, or forces the coach to move him up the lineup. The latter option is obviously very unlikely.

Pronger had (I believe) 1 fight here. But you are right, forwards preferred to let him go into the corner first. Still, he had one huge hit on Tavares (I think) and otherwise wasn't known for laying the boom here. Still, he was considered "physical."
