At the very least there is a "real" core to work with this time. We're not just passing off Roy as a #1C and Vanek as a franchise guy. Should in theory make building the supporting cast a little easier.

then there is the goalie situation that is up in the air still

in many ways Murray is acting like a rookie GM


the table was setup nice for him, with 3 moves all that wiggle room he had is gone


after saying that with risto, eichel, ror, skunk, girgens you have a nice core to build around but there are many holes still to make this an upper tier team in the years to come

You are right, they have a nice core to build upon. They need improvements on D and in goal. I still see this team building through another two drafts, maybe a trade or a FA signing to bolster those weak areas. We are still 2-3 years away.

If it's 1 (highly doubt we get that) you go for the obvious and get Matthews. If you're picking 2-4 and you get Chychrun or Tkachuk. My pick would go to Chychrun, he is exactly what we need.

I think a big trade up front or on the blue line does that (probably cost the 2016 1st and more). I think as long as Lehner isn't letting johnson-esque softies we'll be ok.

Samson is going to be a Super star as well . Let's come back in 3 to 4 years and judge. God you just have turned so negative. Used to enjoy reading your posts. Now it is like a car crash . You don't want too look but you are drawn to looking at it to see how bad it is.

If Reinhart were to become a superstar, we would see more signs of it by now. He's on pace to be pretty good, not great. Draisatil is producing at Pat Kane's level right now. It's insane

I'm sorry but not only should we not trade him....putting reinhart on the 3rd line is an unbelievable waste of his talents...the kid has the 3rd most goals on this team...and he's a rookie

Or, one could move Reinhart to wing on Matthews line.
Point is Matthews, Eichel, Reinhart and ROR are four stud center/wing combinations.

You should go do your Draisaitl cheerleading in there. It is getting boring in here. Also didn't your Boy get a lot more games in the NHL last year than Samson to adjust!

In hindsight yes, but that's why i have high-ish hopes for next year. You can find some decent goalie help for relatively nothing cost wise (griess free agency, ramo waivers as you said). I still think Goaltending will be okay for us once lehner is back and healthy but in case it's not you have those options.

Watching this team these last few months, i feel like they're short one game changer. I understand you can get that through the draft as well so a lot of this will depend on draft position and whether what you can get for it in return is better than what you can draft.
