Even if you loathe Hinkie, which you unabashedly do, Colangelo had 19 years of mediocrity and awful managing to Hinkie's 2. Which were planned this way. Colangelo did it the honorable old fashioned way -- just being a bad GM. Even if you want Hinkie replaced, which you unabashedly do, that's getting rid of one bad and replacing it with another. Yay another decade of mediocrity

His father will be running the show, his son will be under him. You don't know that it would be another decade of mediocrity. You don't want him, fine, pick someone else.

Didn't answer the question. I'll answer it for you, not much, and it doesn't look like that is going to change anytime soon.

He hasn't even been GM for three years. The Sixers were a nightmare when he first took over -- a time bomb that exploded before he walked through the door. What's coming out about his sour relationships isn't good, but asset wise, the Sixers are sitting pretty. Face it, you want the NBA equivalent of Paul Holmgren to be their GM, always taking them 1 step forward 2 steps back. For someone so patient with the Flyers you sure are acting rash with the Sixers.

You're completely wrong and are making silly assumptions.

What I'm looking for is some forward progress in this process. It's non existent. You're more focused on attacking me, than discussing the team, and it's ridiculously transparent. You don't have a clue about what I want. The team was a nightmare when he took over, and 3 years later, it's still a nightmare.

20 years is a good sample size me thinks. And yes a 76 year old man who lives in Phoenix would be running the show

Hinkie has some big flaws, but his ideology ain't one. They are sitting on the draft pick jackpot for the next 5-7 years. They aren't even as bad as their record indicates. Go look at their losses and how many were close games. If they'd won a few more 3-5 point games, would you still be female doging? And they're missing some key contributors to injuries. This is all about the long game. If 2+ seasons has you impatient, when you probably don't even watch the games, then enjoy the vicious circle that is NBA mediocrity.

3 years is a good sample size, and yes, they're that bad. Actually an embarrassment to the league, which is why the commissioner stepped in.

You have an issue here, and are more interested in discussing me that the Sixers.

His idealogy is badly flawed. Hinkie doesn't understand how to develop a team. For example, for big men to develop, they need guards and perimeter players to help out. They better make some of those first round picks count.

Whatever. No point arguing with someone who says the sky is green and the grass is blue.

Hopefully Colangelo signs all the NBA AMacs of the world.

What has Hinkie done in his career?
- MJL

EXACTLY -- JFC, people. The franchise is a joke! They are a straight-up joke!

Don't tell me the only way to win in that league is a Top 5 pick when the defending champions are running wild over the entire sport with the league MVP at No. 7 overall!

Own the fact that the Sixers are an abomination that will, take years to fix, and all they have to show for it is Okafor, an injured Embiid, a project in Noel, and lots of second-round picks. They might not even get the Lakers pick!

FFS! They are an abomination!

That's a low-rent argument --Paul Holmgren didn't win the cup. Ok.

But you know what he did do?

Authored one of the the biggest turnarounds in league history. Had them in the finals two years later. And was set up to have a competitive team in the future, if Pronger hadn't gotten hurt AND had drafted Ghost, Stolarz, Laughton and Cousins in attempting to rebuild depth from trying to win.

Did he make mistakes? Sure. But not rolling over and becoming the Sixers or Edmonton wasn't one of them.

Yeah, this would concern me if I gave a (frank) about the Sixers or the NBA. I stopped following the Sixers when they traded Moses. (frank) em, I don't care if they go 1-81.

Trust me, I get it. I do. But take where they are and where the Phillies are. Yeah, they are both bad. Both are in for long rebuilds.

But the Phillies went out swinging, trying to give a core of winners every chance they could.

The Sixers are an abomination because they want to win the easy way, tank it out. Everyone involved in it should be fired, if you ask me. Every single one of them.

I mean it works like a charm in NHL15. Trade everyone to bad teams for 1st/2nd rd picks in the first season. Win 20 games. Tell the owner to shut the (frank) up when he yells at you at the end of the season. Get top 3 picks in the draft and like 4 in the first 10. Sign everyone long term. Trade em when they get to be like 89 overall and 33+ with a year or 2 left to terrible teams for their first rounder. Rinse. Repeat.

Excellent point! Another poster claims "I want the NBA equivalent of Paul Holmgren to be their GM". Thinking about it, that's right. I want the Sixers to go from league worst, to one of the league's best. Paul Holmgren is villified. Sam Hinkie is protected! Hysterical.

The only thing I'll say to this is these 2 sports are drastically different. One player can turn an entire NBA franchise around overnight. The same cannot be said in MLB. That's my biggest issue with the NBA. There's maybe 10 superstars (at most) in today's game and they tend to flock to the same teams to play together. If you're not one of those teams, you're not a contender. Congrats you can make the playoffs, but everyone pretty much knows each year who the final 4 teams standing are going to be before the season even begins.

At least I know Paul Holmgren can build a winning team and get a team to the finals.

How Sam Hinkie gets to stand there and say, "hey, trust me, my plan is to lose and we're losing, so look at that, my plan is working because I told you we would lose," and people just nod their heads like "hey, he told us we would suck, so his plan is working!!!!!" is beyond me.

Ok, then, let's walk that out then: Who are the final four teams this year?

If everyone knows, that isn't a trick question. Who are they?
