I am not sure, if not completely unconvinced murray is all that concerned about winning games this season. Especially when the goalie he traded for is injured and does not address the position slightly.

The team is improved, the record is struggling. Might be just what the doctor ordered for this season, and it doesnt bother me. Even though it stings pretty badly to see the team battle back and have goaltending let them down at every turn.

It's a little too late for that now. Lehner's out of his boot/cast and will likely be back soon. Can only hope that he's as advertised.

We do not have an NHL goalie on our team. When Regher comes back, I still don't think we have one. First 3 goals our dmen decided to leave the front. Dman positioning 101, not sure there's an explanation to the bad positioning. The 4th goal was horrific and needs to be saved 110% of the time. Eichel needs to shoot and shoot again. Btw, how many times can Moulsen miss the net with shots?

Yes it was, frustrating that we couldnt come out with 1 point against some of the bottom western teams. They battled tonight though, risto is awesome.

I still believe one more top pick is what murray really covets. Of course if the team overachieves there are no complaints from him or anyone.

But the draft is in buffalo this season, what better way to hopefully cap off a rebuild then by assembling a young and improved team that will struggle to gain points consistently. Take the course of an entire season to build and mature together, see improvement and maturity from the three players we must see it from in reinhart, eichel and ristolainen, and have another legit shot at the lottery at home.

I am ok.

It's an unfortunate loss, but this wasn't expected to be a playoff team. This season is going as advertised. Highs, lows, inconsistencies. Factor in our wildly inconsistent goaltending and this is about what you should expect.

Be excited for what this team will become. It won't happen over night but as this team matures and young players fall into place it has potential to be great.

Its ok, not like your interpretation was unwarranted. I think we all agree that goaltending is a position that should have been adressed.

Although i agree it is a little late now if lehner is on the verge of returning soon.

A few missed opportunities, a couple times our D zone coverage wasn't the best. That said this loss I place directly on Johnson's shoulders. That's last goal should have been saved. And Risto for Norris!!!

This forum is suicidal after that. Yes, we lost. To be honest, that game could have easily been 5/6-3. Defense needs to be addressed & we need wingers for Eichel. We've seen preseason and 2 periods of Lehner. Are you seriously already to give up on him? Like many have stated, we are a bubble playoff team at best. I'm going to get a lot of flack for this but a few of you are acting like a couple of Garth's with this "trade for a goalie now TM!!" nonsense. Grab a beer and watch the beginning of THE NEXT CHAPTER aka chapter 1 of the next 15 years of Sabres history. It's the difference of being good sooner, or being GREAT for longer. Have a little patience for (franks) sake. I know for one I prefer books with happy endings.

We allowed a 3 on 2 down load at the end of the game. They guy couldn't get over fast enough to stop a sniper from the low slot. There is no way you can allow a shot like that to be taken at that point in the game.

It's one of them opinionated days....

One word for this team = frustrating.
Defensively, in their own zone this team is a huge mess,
and it doesn't really matter who is on the ice.
Not one, not one of our dmen is sound in his own end.
And nope, not even Risto.
I have watched him give the puck away in our own end almost as much as our worse dman.
Someone please tell me why Moulson is still on this team besides to house Eichel,
like Eichel can't buy himself his own home?
Moulson is the epitome of the word useless.
Our goaltending has been atrocious as of late and now we hinge any hope on Lehner coming back from yet another injury?
Good luck on that.
Playoff aspirations are once again fading fast but I do still hold out a little hope.
So sick of my home town teams not making the playoffs.
Enough already!

This team is about halfway there. Still much more needed in all three categories, Goaltending, Defense, and Offense.
As we have seen they need wingers for Eichel, and Moulson and Gionta aren't the answer. Why Disco can't seem to fathom putting Girgensons and McGinn on his wing for some period of time is beyond me.
Clearly, they need a sniper on Eichels right...I think the boys in Rochester are showing they need another year in the AHL to find their game...each hasn't exactly electrified that team...hopefully one of the two provides that scoring ability. If not, maybe GMTM can find one in FA this year?
Be prepared for Lehner to suck when he returns and just hope he plays himself back into the starter by years end.
Here, GMTM could do the Sabres some good...send Ullmark to Team Latvia...let Artis do his magic on him for a couple of seasons.

Considering how many picks/assets were moved this offseason and last year, that's a shame

When Pysyk is back, play him and Franson as your 2nd pair, and Bogo/McCabe as the 3rd.

Also, I think the ice team needs to be spread evenly on the blue line, give Franson/Bogo/Risto all close to 20 min, as opposed to letting Risto get pummeled defensively.

Ristolainen looks excellent in the offensive end, however he's shooting at an unsustainable 9.3 shooting% and has a bunch of secondary assists. Pretty soon, the hot streak will end and he will need to get better in his own end

Probably more like 2/3rds of the way...but the point is we still aren't there (obviously). We do have a pipeline just need to hit on some of those AND still more work to do.
Finishing low in the standings this year is actually the best that could happen for them this year...fill one of those holes on D or Wing, and fill another through FA.
